You need to replace your current TCM with the exact part number for proper communication with the rest of the electronics as it's married to the ECU.

As far as I'm aware the valve body needs to be removed to get the part number from the current TCM. Unless there's some way for nissan or a tuner to tell which TCM is present with their OBD2 tools.

Tell your supplier the numbers on the bottom that are hyphenated.

The TCM is not married to the ECU. I've swapped a handful of them. If you buy a new tcm it does need to be programmed. If it's a used one you can swap it and go. They aren't that specific either just match your year up. My last one I grabbed and swapped the whole VB with one from the junkyard. Messy but easy job.

I believe the "marriage" terminology I read came from the need to program a new TCU to communicate with the existing ECM.

IMO, no reason to install a used electronic component, especially one requiring so much work to swap. :tiphat:
