Sorry for the lack of response. I replaced with quietest FI I could get. I am supercharged running headers and test pipe - its still louder than I like, and may take the headers off. But I'm not a spring chicken and have some hearing loss already.
Still working on pictures, but the only thing of note is a bit of rash on the braided flex couplers, but nothing that alters function. |

I'm actually in the same boat. Supercharged with TG's A-A kit with Motordyne TDX2. I was blowing cats so went to FI resonated test pipes. Loud as hell.
What I did was added high flow cats further down stream to the Y pipe. 2 100 cells on each side. I also added Hemholtz resonators to the test pipes (similar to the Motordyne ART, but with additional resonators on the FI TPs). Helmholtz resonators help a ton. Just bottle resonators with caps on them. Technically they need to be sized to cancel out rasp/drone. They do a great job adding a deeper tone. Quote:

The FI exhaust quieted down the WOT sound level but I get a lot of resonance through the cabin. Not drone per se'. It begins when I roll on throttle (load). In my experience, the situations that set off my tinitus is vibrations/resonance, not necessarily high decibels. Interested point you make about tuned Hemholtz resonators. I wouldn't know where to begin there. Ok, as I type, the previous owner messaged me he thought the test pipes were too quiet so he had the chambers fabbed/reduced. Arghhhh! Anybody know the original dimension of the chamber off hand?? |
