You are 100% WRONG.

There is no such thing as a "tuner license" that is flashed onto the ECU, just the Osiris license which is generic.

The physical cable determines what version of the software you can access, and there are 5 versions.
1) basic interface cables (basic reflash cable with no Osiris license. No tuning abilities)
2) Osiris standard (same as basic interface but with an Osiris license on it. Can flash 1 ECU.
3) Tuner version (Same as Osiris standard but with the ability to tune yourself). Includes 1 Osiris license to flash 1 vehicle.
4) Tuner add on (same as tuner version but with no license) Can be used to tune vehicles that already have an Osiris license on the ECU.
5) pro tuner version (you can't buy this one)


If you take the license off the Osiris standard cable it becomes an interface cable. If you take the license off the tuner version it becomes a "tuner add on cable", which can still be used to edit rom files (tune) but cannot flash any vehicles that do not have a license on the ECU already. Same thing Uprev sells for $475 new: Osiris - Tuner ADD ON
