I have this FilterMag that served my car well. It will not fit my new car as unfortunately it need 1 size bigger or I would definitely be reusing it. These are not a substitute for a good filter or oil changes but they are a good complementary item. Especially with a neodymium magnetic oil drain bolt/plug

The idea behind them is they are strong neodymium magnets that can give you some added engine wear protection and extended filter life/efficiency by keeping any ferrous metal stuck to the filter housing instead of circulating in the engine. This particular model was the stronger version back in '10 when I bought it. They were about $52. The newer model appears to me the same thing in a different color and same price.

They don't have any moving parts and don't really wear out. The orange/red part of mine is a little duller than when it was new from heat cycling and there is a small tool mark one edge but that's it really.
