2015 1LE vs 2015 GT track pack
I can't say I didn't 100% predict this review for several reasons.
1. The camaro has had an IRS since 1982 and has more experience tuning them. 2. Mustang opted for GT500 brakes. Mustang needs completely reengineered brakes. They never get brakes right. 3. Camaro 5 has been tuning to fight it's weight since 2009. Mustangs new weight means mustang engineers are in the figure it out process. 4. 1LE pkg is just too insane for the money. The camaro is now truly a point and shoot handler. The mustang needs Suspension stiffening http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rTJPDurLEKw My prediction. The ALPHA camaro will destroy the mustang this generation based on the lighter platform and 1LE suspension platform will probably be even more aggressively tuned next gen. No matter how ugly some may complain about the camaro. Camaro rules the track!!!

As an owner of a 1LE I have to say it's an amazing machine. It's the first car to come along under 50k to make me want to trade me Z. Opted to go the Vette route instead being that we already had a 1LE in the stable. Nissan will really have to do something special with the next gen Z to get me back. Then again I'll always have my 280z and 300zx.
As for the mustang, yeah, Ford screwed up a bit. Had they kept the weight down I'm sure the stang would be getting much better reviews. Now the GT350 looks pretty good though.

I will admit, some body kits do wonders for the GT. It can look really aggressive.

I think the new Mustang is one of the best looking vehicles Ford has ever produced. That being said, recall and QC issues aside, GM has been pumping out some absolute monsters lately and it's tough to ignore their dominance in the variety of performance cars they're offering for the money.

I think in 2-3 years, the new Mustang will get a bit more refinement and really start tearing it up. Look how much they improved the Mustang from it's 2005 S197 intro to the 2014 car. Same Chassis.

Honestly, I'm looking at how they perform for the money, and I'm not really blown away. They're still just too damn heavy.
And the Camaro's definitely the better (if less pretty...) bang-for-the-buck option, but its motor produces about the same output as the Mustang with an extra .7 liters of displacement... I dunno... I kind of like the look of the new Mustang, but my heart isn't really captivated by either of them. I'd still rather have a SRT8 Challenger or Charger to lope around in... I think GM's gonna have to revive the Firebird to get my attention.

GM has always dominated Ford (recently...last 30 years?) in the suspension department.
That said, I think I prefer the new GT...having never driven either :P Also...wait until the new Camaro comes out on the lighter ATS setup. I mean, we ARE comparing the last of the last generation Camaro's to a brand-new Ford platform...and it's still "arguable" (comparing the 1LE, I think you need to wait for the new BOSS equivalent...just saying). The ATS platform Camaro should eat the new Mustang's lunch. |

If there's any truth to these renderings... The stang will be the better looking car.

Have to say that while I'm not overly impressed with the camaro renderings so far I do believe (in my opinion) it will look overall better than the mustang. I've seen the new mustang rolling around town here and the *** just doesn't do it for me. It's too slanted from a profile view. The front is very nice and aggressive. Just can't get over the *** of the car. Had they kept it more square at the tail lights like the previous gen it would look so much better. Also I'm not impressed with the fact that Ford made it heavier. Those two things combined really turned me off to the stang.
As someone else mentioned above the Challenger STR8 is probably the best of the three muscle cars. Only problem is it's much more expensive compared to the other two and it can't take a turn anywhere as good as the other two. For me the Camaro is the best option to date. Can't wait to see the next gen specs

Question is, what will the GT350 cost. The Z/28 is too expensive. A loaded up GT with track pack and a few things hits at 46K or so. If the GT350 is 55K or so, they will sell lots of them. The GT350R I'm guessing will be much more.

I'd expect the 1LE to beat the GT Performance Pack on track. It is much more track focused than the Mustang. Just look at the tires and shock package it comes equipped with.
The GTPP is definitely trying to be a great street car with some track readiness. It's ready to go to the occasional track day, but it's more focused on being a car you'd be happy with commuting in every day. Compared to the 1LE it is softer, more comfortable, feature-rich, and in classic Ford fashion, totally under-damped for the high speed stuff. Looking at the two objectively it's obvious they both serve different purposes. I'd say the 1LE would make more sense to be compared to a Boss-variant of the current Mustang, if that makes any sense. The previous Boss took away a lot of the comfort features and focused on track prowess, however it (the standard Boss) was still outperformed by the 1LE.
