"Don't exile me.." Part II: Finally starting to cool down

I'll keep this short and sweet. I'm sure you guys remember my thread a couple of weeks ago about me trading my Z in for a new Q60S. I took my car out (probably the third time driving it) to my fiancee's relatives for Christmas Eve. I picked the car up the Saturday before Xmas, mind you. I hadn't even had the Infiniti for a week. Like I told told the insurance guy, the tire shine is still on the car from the showroom. One relative side swiped my car as he was backing out of the driveway to leave. I parked a few car lengths back, off of the driveway. Sports cars are generally more difficult to see since they sit so low to the ground so I played it safe...got hit anyway. :icon14:. I was sick, this is the first time any of my cars have been damaged and this was my first BRAND NEW car. Cop that showed up was telling us we didn't have to report if it was less than 1K in damage. He said it should be less than that. I told him he was wrong..just to repaint a bumper, for example, is 300-400 for a decent job. We're looking at 2+ panels, and a handle. It ended up being a little over $2K. So as of now, my new car has been at the Infiniti shop since Friday night and I'm driving a Dodge Dart rental :ugh2:.

Then to spice things up a bit since things were starting to look up..my fiancee put her car into a pole last night coming home. She was going downhill to a stop sign, solid ice, and couldn't stop. I guess there was a car coming and she picked the pole rather than the car. Took it to the shop today, has $2K worth of damage. It was in town, so the car isn't in too bad of shape. I felt bad but I had to laugh after that..you just cannot make this up :icon17:. I also found it kinda crazy that our cars are about the same to fix, but hers is in worse shape than mine (in my opinion anyway).

Exile the relatives, I say.

^^^ lol
When it comes to money, the last thing you want is relatives involved! Hopefully no bad feelings or bad blood with the relatives.

Who,him or me?
If it was family, the last people I would call is the cops, and even then I would probably eat the cost, because well,family...

Never mind,I just read his post again. Guess he did. Probably just wanted to go through the right channels and make sure everything is proper.

Family or not, with insurance companies nowadays you want to cover yourself by having the police report. Unless you just happen to have the cash sitting around to get the repairs done without insurance. Or you don't mind driving around with a damaged car.

Dude just buy a beater put ls7 in it and enjoy it, other than that i dont see a damage free car in ur life. Am srry this happened to u and i know how u feel really i do i left the dealership with a scratch on my front bumper, one of the dealers wanted my car, appears that i bought it first.

Be4 the paper work was done no scratch, after i came out i saw it, thought wtf? Right away i realized what happened, but nothing i can do about it, so i maned up and got in to the car and drove off wile the dealer was watching me, just few weeks after car got egged, bumper was hit and hella other things that where little.

In the end the car never had a single mechanical issue, i tuned it my self and i love the way it drives every day. Still would not trade it in even for a new one.

Nothing is more sickening that getting damage to a brand new car prior to the honeymoon period being over. Sorry to hear about this.
