Would this be a good alternative?

Why are people so harsh on the S2000 for being "slow"? It's got a good amount of power stock, nothing amazing but plenty to have alot of fun with. And

Why are people so harsh on the S2000 for being "slow"? It's got a good amount of power stock, nothing amazing but plenty to have alot of fun with. And the car responds very well to mods. And turbo'ing it im sure is alot cheaper/easier than turbo'ing a Z car. The S is very impressive for only having a 2.0lt motor and still being able to stay neck and neck with a 3.5lt 350z.

The S2K IS lower power (although it does get an amazing amount out of that 2L). Some of that is made up for by lighter weight but the S2K is still a slower straight-line car. But it is also a more nimble car and tons of fun to drive.

Comparing track-modified cars to production models is nothing more than mental masturbation.

You seem to have already made up your mind so bite the bullet, get an S2K, and start having fun.
