Special leasing on MY15 GTRs

So it should be no surprise to anyone here that Nissan employees get really good pricing on vehicle purchasing and lease offers. Up until very recently the GTR was off limits to any special deals. That changed this week in now employees like myself can lease a GTR on a 6 month basis for an exceptional deal. So I had to question what the motive behind this is? Not many folks are going to treat the GTR with the respect it deserves and in 6-10 months time frame the market is going to be flooded with beat to hell 6 month old supercars. Is this an effort to start reducing the ground stock? Thoughts? Maybe MC will chime in here.

I havent heard of employee lease specials specifically on 15's but it isnt surprising as it coincides with the big news going on right now. For the first time ever since the GTR went on sale in 2008....since Aug 1 has had an internal 10K dealer cash incentive on left over 2014's. this has lead to 100K GTRs going for low 80's. ( know of one guy would bought for 79K) there was about 230+ left over 2014s that dealers (out of about 600 cars in the new market)were having a tough time with and this is an effort to help move those.

It was sort of an under the radar thing where the dealer could use that cash how they wanted so it wasnt advertised to the public.. I made a thread about it and it totally blew up. I got 30K views in a month and Nissan ended up selling 208 GTRs in the month of August because of that thread haha for comparison they sold 91 the month before so it more than doubled sales. its the most GTRs sold in a month since April 2011. I know fo over 30 members I directly helped get into GTRs so that great for them but the side effect of this is the used market is taking a beating right now as you can buy a grand new 2014 cheaper than what most were selling 12/13s for just a month ago. I sold my 2012 in late July if I hadnt had a buyer lined up I would have gotten killed this month.

this 2014 10K dealer cash has been extended until at least 9/30 so that might be something to look into if you our anyone else is serious about getting into a GTR as they can be had for upwards for 20K off

you ask why they are doing this? well its a 7 year old car now and there are some very competitive alternatives now for less money ( Z06 ect) and honestly I think Nissan should have controlled production a bit more these last two years to avoid this. the 2016 will still be a R35 so I fear they will run into this same surplus issue of 2015's like they have with the 14

Im glad they are only doing like 50 NISMO's as they will keep them depreciation proof

Yeah watched that thread. If Nissan doesn't learn something from that thread then SMH

MC 09-06-2014 07:34 PM

Yeah they produce roughly 1500-1600 for the US and for the last few years they have sold 1200ish. The 12-15 cars are very similar except for the price increase so it was inevitable the market would change on these

The R36 is a year or two off so they need to maybe cap production for 2016s to help the GTR keep is value and standing. If anything it should show Nissan there is a demand for this car still in the 80s but less so at that 100k+ mark

Cell 09-06-2014 10:27 PM

I would love to own a GTR but will never afford one on my current salary even with the 20k discount. LOL

G35_FTMFW 09-06-2014 11:04 PM

So what is the cost of the lease per month?

cossie1600 09-06-2014 11:21 PM

damn maybe i should trade in my z

Thanks for replying MC. I was reading the thread about some of the guys picking up GTRs for low 80s and it's real tempting at the moment but it'd still stretch my wallet a little too thin. It's a shame that this is going to kill the used market for guys wanting to sell earlier models but others might gain in getting a slightly used 2015 for a killer price. Time will tell.

ZBro16 09-08-2014 08:14 AM

I will definitely keep an eye on how this shakes out. I have been watching the 2012+ models on the used market, but why buy a used '12 for $70k if you can buy new for $80k-ish?

Nissan needs to do something to pull the cost of this car down, because things like the new Z06 for $78k will rob the already small sales this car gets. I'm sure they have something planned.

Also throw in that Dodge just cut $15,000 from the price tag of the Viper. Reports claim before taxes it's running just under $85K.

critical 09-08-2014 01:57 PM

AFAIK $0.00 down. My counterpart is going to lease one so he should get it in about 6-8 weeks. I'm sure there has to be some fine print we aren't being told about. It's almost too good to be true. If I didn't blow 5 grand on an Alaska trip recently I'd been all over this.

martin82 09-11-2014 10:45 AM

Any details on those lease prices or link? $509??

Fine print shows there is only a 20 mile a month mileage allowance and each additional mile is $10.. :p

UNKNOWN_370 09-12-2014 01:53 AM

I'm dying to get a glimpse of a sketch of what the R36 is going to look like. I think 600hp will be perfect. Just up another 20-30 lbs tq and reduce it by 150-200lbs.

MC 09-12-2014 04:00 AM

it will have a total of more than 600hp because of the hybrid system. probably over 700 including both. im guessing at least 550-560 out of a version of the VR38 then 150-200 KERS

I cant see it loosing any weight with the hybrid system.... so all the weight savings they do will be to hold the line at what it is now but add the electric stuff.

It takes a significant chassis overhaul to cut weight. the NISMO got dry carbon bumpers dry carbon trunk and side skirts and all that together still puts its over 3800lbs

the N attack NISMO took about 144 lbs off but they literally had to cut into the bulkhead to the trunk and replace it with a carbon one gut the back seat and had full carbon fenders... that car is $250K.

so if the R36 wants to stay under the say 120Kish threshold I cant imagine it going to those extents to drop weight

ploom 10-15-2014 01:16 PM

Is it ever possible to get a employee-type lease rate as a non-employee on a GTR. I live in Nashville (by the Nissan US HQ) and have quite a few Nissan Execs in my neighborhood -- though surmise that doesn't help.

280z/300zx 10-15-2014 05:45 PM

So any update on this leasing of a GTR? At $509 and no money down I'll go to the dealer right now.

AK370Z 10-16-2014 06:41 AM

subscribed. $509/month is insane.

is it fun to be a wannabie owner? :ugh:

FPenvy 10-16-2014 11:29 AM

2014's have been running through the auctions lately around 75-85K. the prices most certainly are dropping off now.

there is a 2014 midnight opal looking like it's going for 83K today and it makes me sad that i'm missing out on it.

ZBro16 10-20-2014 08:49 AM

If I could have only predicted the future a little better - I could definitely be in a 2014 right now. BAH

Me too. 509/month for 6 months, I'd do that just for kicks.

For 6 months it will be :gtfo2:

Once again, the lease rate is for employees only for those that are asking. All said and done it'll be about 900 for the lease, insurance, and taxes. Still cheaper than the $1700ish listed on NissanUSA. Mine should be here in about another month.:driving:

FalconFixer -- you ex-AF by chance (me too). What does Nissan do with the 6 months old cars post lease. Since I'm in Nashville, do they sell them locally by chance ad a decent price (hoping...)?

Yep F-16 crew chief from 98-09. I honestly don't know what Nissan is thinking with the 6 month lease but if dealers are letting brand new ones go for low 80s I'd imagine they'd let the lease cars go even lower. They just allowed employee leasing options so wait about 5 more months for them to show up on the market.

Hotrodz 12-02-2014 09:11 PM

I spoke with a Nissan salesman at the Phoenix car show this past weekend that said they have a Track addition for $90K. He said it was $20K off

MC 12-02-2014 09:29 PM

Yeah they are using 10k in dealer cash still active on 14s then taking 10k out of their margin

Track editions are 115 so its probably in the 95k range
