I bet those things were still smoking when they finally got parked for the night

Haboob 07-07-2014 10:31 AM

They sound amazing.

And my buddy got the  from his wife to get one when they are on the market. :icon17:

Jordo! 07-07-2014 10:39 AM

Want in black with blower sticking out of hood.

THAT is a muscle car. It makes no pretense to being anything other than a wild, rapacious beast that eats tarmac and boy-racer's hearts for breakfast.

Haboob 07-07-2014 10:46 AM

Apparently a Charger Hellcat is in the works too. 4-doors for those of y'all that need'em. ;)

The Supercar Kids – 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Spied

Jordo! 07-07-2014 10:58 AM

Wahh... too many ducats for a mere peon such as I, but I soooooooo want as second car.

Oh... the eardrum piercing noise, the brutal violence of the engine, the murderous fraying of rubber on road...

EDIT: WTF did I babble here...? Am I writing a poem?

Vegitto-kun 07-07-2014 04:14 PM

I have a mighty need for this but eh RWD so no go. but seroiusly that power is insane. can't imagine how much power could be unlocked with a proper tune. the charger hellcat would be interesting too. if it was AWD but seeing as the normal SRT isn't yeah. also no go.

falconfixer 07-07-2014 04:30 PM

I wonder how they handle in the twisties? Wait, 707hp? Who cares about twisties, just point and shoot. That's a bad mofo there:driving:

If AWD is a key concern, I think go for the Subaru or, if you can find it at a good deal, perhaps the Evo-X. Or, I suppose, a G37X (or whatever they're calling it now).

Other than those three, I think everything else consistent with your power and drivetrain preferences gets a bit pricey... as in, if you choose to pass on all three, a GT-R would be the next entry level car in keeping with these aims.

That's 6 figures... so, I say, look into a WRX, EVO, or G37X.

Audi has a few options, but still...

Hellcat looks tasty

UNKNOWN_370 07-08-2014 10:30 AM

Meh, it's still a freighter on wheels... Z06 anyone?

Haboob 07-08-2014 10:46 AM

A C6? Sure. C7, nope. Would rather have a Hellcat.

Ardent_Z 07-11-2014 10:55 AM

..and it just ran the quarter in 10.8

theDreamer 07-11-2014 10:57 AM

The 707 HP Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Is A 10-Second Car

Quote:

That's on street legal drag radials, according to this new video from Chrysler. Equipped thusly the Hellcat did the quarter mile in 10.86 seconds at 126 mph. The number has been NHRA certified.

Similarly, with its production tires, the Hellcat runs the quarter in 11.2 seconds at 125 mph, also certified. That's also fantastic.

brancky3 07-11-2014 10:59 AM

I would call that an 11 second car, but 10 seconds modified.

Nope 10s for sure... this thing is a fkn beast. :driving:

Tazicon 07-11-2014 11:22 AM

Those are amazing cars but there are very few people out there in the world that can actually handle that kind of power...............many that think they can but few who truely can. The crash videos are coming.....................

A beast indeed. Still an 11 second car on street tires (which is awesome! Not downing this car in any way). IMO a 10.8 on drag radials shouldn't even be advertised, that's a modified car.

Haboob 07-11-2014 12:03 PM

Not a fan of the looks of the Challenger, but damn. That performance.

Mr&Mrs 07-11-2014 01:05 PM

Always liked these since the day I first saw them. Best remake of the bunch if you ask me. If I had the money for a straight shooter like this I would scoop one up but for now I will stick with the Z or similar in the twisties, just wouldnt want it as my only fun car.

Vegitto-kun 07-18-2014 01:03 AM

This thing is still so perfect even with that price. I dont think ford and chevy can really compete

NoLaKrewe 07-18-2014 04:23 AM

For that price and HP, liveleak is going to be filled with rich white kids and drug dealers killing themselves in these things.

With that said, quite impressed with the 1/4 mile times.

Debiandog 07-18-2014 07:38 AM

I love love love this car. I had a 74' Challenger so it is extra special for me. The technology in this newer car is amazing the interior is gorgeous! If I could bring myself to spend 65-70k I'd have one.

Ford and Chevy have both said, without saying directly, they are done with the high HP race for now. The GT500 and ZL1 are the end for them right now in their current platforms, ford is migrating to the GT350 which will compete up against the current Z/28 (lighter weight, carbon ceramic brakes, high rev v8, etc) and future model on the new platform the camaro is built on.

I bet even with Dodge this is a 1 maybe 2 year product car tops, just to say they did it and be done.

DCNISMO 07-21-2014 05:38 PM

Price is 60K……perhaps if dealers don't mark them up like they doing wit the Z/28. I admit to thinking about trading my CTS-V for one of these things. Want a full review first. for 6-8K or so I can get my V to 700HP at the crank. I can get 650 HP for 4-5K. Plus lots of torque.

Roddy1 07-31-2014 12:20 PM

who needs a viper?

Jordo! 07-31-2014 12:42 PM

I.
Want.

I hate the look of that damned Camaro, I really wanted to like it but the thing is just butt ugly esp from the rear. :roflpuke2:

Some footage of the Charger Hellcat:

FPenvy 08-14-2014 08:51 AM

im confused.....

challenger 2door 707hp 10.8 1/4 and top speed of 198
charger 4door 707 hp 11.0 1/4 and 205 mph

why is the charger a faster top speed? drag? aero pack? more doors? lol

but seriously......im not a big dodge guy.....

but if these are priced right i might be interested.

Haboob 08-14-2014 08:58 AM

Probably a bit more aerodynamic.

And the Challenger is ~$80,000 at the moment. I can't imagine the Charger being too much less than that, if at all.

"The longer body and improved aerodynamics are what help the Charger Hellcat beat the Challenger Hellcat to 60 mph — it's 12 percent more aerodynamic, Dodge says."

"Pricing for the new 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has not yet been announced and will be revealed when the car goes on sale in the first few months of 2015. The Challenger Hellcat is priced at $60,990 (including destination and gas-guzzler charges), and it's not unreasonable to expect that the Charger will actually be priced similarly if Dodge sticks to the pricing strategy that it has been following for the company's SRT models."

i like the sound of 60k for 707hp :fap:

Haboob 08-14-2014 09:12 AM

Maybe they'll eventually come down to that price, but you know how dealers are...
