Put the Big Mac DOWN, Mustang!!!

Kind of a potential bummer for anyone intrigued with the notion that the next-gen Mustang was due to be lighter than the current-gen...

The 2015 Ford Mustang Might Have Just Gained A Whole Fat Guy In Weight

Soooooo... yeah.

Dissapointed the mustang in all reality pretty much looks the same. I was looking for them to do a complete blow up

OMG! "..basically like carrying around the weight of Brian, your fat friend who's been trying to shed pounds..."

Guess what my name is?

Sounds like speculation to me... Still a fast car though either way

I was liking the Ford Mustang in pictures.. Then I saw it at the New York Auto Show. Interior awesome... Exterior, hum drum.

Tuner Didn't Actually Weigh '15 Mustang, Has No Idea If Gained Weight

m4a1mustang 06-02-2014 02:28 PM

Kind of a bummer if it is heavier after all the talk from them about making it lighter. We all know weight doesn't stop a car from being stupid fast (GT-R, ZL1, Z/28, etc) but they tend to be more fun when they are smaller. :p

Funny stuff............Personally I could care less one way or the other. Heavier, lighter, faster, slower, doesn't really matter to me. I won't be buying one any time in the near future.

Yeah, Porch makes nice cars

Chevy is saying lighter Camaro, but we will have to see. but the Camaro will not be dealing with new variables either, so I expect a 3600 pound or less Camaro.

The GT-R seems to somehow make physics optional and is a great example of a heavy, yet fast, car.

I'm not so sure about the other two. One of our national-competitor drivers just bought a Z28 and brought it to this past weekend's event.

He was about 0.7 seconds behind a stock-class BRZ and about 1.3 seconds faster than a stock-class Mini. (this was on an 80-second course) He could get faster with some more familiarity with the car, but he's a good driver and I'm sure he got in the ball-park of the car's abilities within a run or two.

Don't get me wrong, I like the car. Parked in staging, it looked like it was going to take other cars' lunch money, and the poor little Mini, that was parked to its right, looked like something the Z28 had just shat out.

It's a great looking car with a ton of power.

I just don't think I could pull the trigger on a car that expensive when it can't really "dance".

The Z/28 wasn't really meant to auto-x, it's a road car. I'm sure with some more wheel time he will be able to get much closer to the BRZ and on a road course the BRZ might as well not even show up. The Z/28 has proven to compete with the likes of the GTR. While it's expensive for a Camaro in general it's got the moves and the power to back it up. I'm sure you know, as you seem like a regular auto-xer, that more powerful cars don't usually translate to good auto-x times. I mean i've seen a guy with a beat to crap, stock, automatic, **** tires toyota paseo run one of the best times at an auto-x event. He did it just as a joke, regular car is a prepped miata, but the point is light weight low power vehicles tend to do much better at auto-x.

As for the topic, will wait to see the specs from Ford when it is released
