out of curiosity, why choosing between only these 2? 4 seats?

DEpointfive0 07-17-2014 08:40 PM

I saw a RCF outside work a few weeks ago. (Toyota/Rexus HQ is down the street)

:iagree:

now that i think about it these are expensive cars for daily drivers, i'd rather just get a camry or accord

Limeybastard 07-17-2014 10:31 PM

M4. End .

daisuke149 07-18-2014 09:43 AM

You can get a much faster car for the same price / cheaper : /

as for me getting a lexus, i dont need a faster car than my Z. she is fast enough for street for me. anything faster would be too boring to drive.

What new car would you get that is cheaper, faster, and better quality?

I didnt say better quality did i? although that is subjective given BMW's reliability.

for the price of a m4 and rcf, the new stingray z06 will run circles around them and start at a cheaper price point than the rcf and similar price to the m4.

heck the stingray z51 would be quicker too and cheaper.

They are built very nicely if you had the chance to check one out.

While this is opinion, and its different, I like the look of the Vette more than the 2 cars in question.

I figured you were going to say the c7 corvette, that's why I said quality. I've spent some time in one (passenger) and Chevy has improved it vastly over the c6, but in my opinion it's no where near the build quality/quality of materials of a BMW or Lexus.

For pure muscle/speed the corvette definitely wins. As a fun/fast/refined daily driver, I think Lexus and BMW has it beat all around in my opinion.

kenchan 07-18-2014 10:20 AM

i dont care to do circles while going to work..

i do enough of that AT work... :ugh2:

I don't care to own a Corvette. But then I'm biased because I've never cared for them (and the grey haired men I always see driving them :icon17:)

kenchan 07-18-2014 10:26 AM

i think the new vettes are nice.

but i dont want a vette right now. i want a nice dd. something that looks more in line with who i am vs my fit. :ugh:

daisuke149 07-18-2014 10:30 AM

your arguments are valid but not really hitting the point. The Op said, which would you buy and why. my question was why limit to these 2. The OP did not point out daily, 4 seats, track car etc. Thus I raised the question of the vette. It is a very comfy daily driver from my friend who has one. and being in it was very comfy. (Mag ride is pretty awesome). Friend who has it says its his most fun car yet (370z, cayman, etc etc hes had before in the last 4 years).

Indeed. Client I work with just picked up a white one with the 7spd. That thing sure pulls and the interior is so much nicer than the c6

It's because these two are in the same class and Lexus clearly trying to target the M4 with the RCF. Neither of these cars are aimed at the Corvette, even though they can be compared based on stats.

Loved the 235i. Get it dont waste your time with the 435 etc. Too big. The proportions of the 235i are ideal. Fantastic power and pull. Great steering. I loved the seating position. Total package is a winner. It goes with all the reviews Ive read - a great drivers car!!!

Test was with the Auto model. Great gearbox, downshifts are incredible, quick, aggressive. The brakes are strong and bite. The motor is a gem and the exhaust note and sound in the cabin under full throttle are what the Z should be :) Best of luck with your decision!

Thanks Dave, Will take a look at the 235i when the time comes

Yes 4 seats, plus they're both classy and fast. Also like the Z, you won't see too many around.

Scoop: The all-new Lexus RC and RC F - Motor Trend

If Motortrend is correct on the pricing, don't think I want the RCF.

The Lexus forums was guessing around $75k. At that price point, I'd consider it.

Nooooo... I still agree, lol

I'm hella-JDM-yo when it comes to buying Japanese cars. Zee Germans haven't learned yet...
Zee Germans make the best driving machine *while there's a warranty*
Toyota/Rexus makes an ok driving machine... That works forever.

dooood, i just realized the IS has a manual mode via shift lever too (not just paddles)! watching vid...

so i can shift while making a left-hand turn without getting all twisted out of shape. :D

Volk Z 07-18-2014 08:12 PM

How about wait a little and get the Toyota ft1 which should be the best choice.
