Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

Hey guys, I have a 2008 g37s coup six speed, and am looking to get a Carbon fiber driveshaft. I don't want a aluminum because of the vibration problems. I did find one on eBay, but they don't have my model year and want me to measure under my car so they can make it to spec.... I am not confident in my ability to do this. So I would like to know if anyone knows were I can get a carbon fiber driveshaft, or have reliable measurements. Thanks in advance

P.S. I tried to post on myg37 forums, but it would not let me, so I can here. I also got a lot of good advice here and respect the options. !! AKA South bend clutch set up, CSC, thou I disagree on the Stillen headers:eek:

I don't have anything specific to add to this thread other than I probably wouldn't buy a drive shaft off ebay

The driveshaft shop. Give them a call and see what they've got.

:iagree::iagree: EBAY + DRIVESHAFT = JUNK....

Chuck33079 04-22-2014 04:28 PM

Since we have a carbon composite shaft stock, we probably won't be much help.

If their one piece AL one is almost $700, I can only think what a CF one will cost.

Thanks guys people see eBay and think junk. I look at it as is it the right part and who makes it. It was driveshaft shop one ebay so.... The problem is they only have a CFD for 09 and up, I would have to measure which would be hard for me. Chuck you work at the driveshaft shop? Maybe you can help me out with any ideas on what I could do.

No, I don't work there. I gave you an idea- give them a call and ask them since we have no idea since we already have one stock. If you can't measure it for some reason, take it to a shop and have them do it.

What year is your car and are you AT?

hc_416 04-22-2014 06:43 PM

Sorry Chuck that was my fault. Also my car is a 2008 g37s 6 MT RWD.

jwick 04-22-2014 06:58 PM

I can't see why your car would be any different than a 2009 if you have a MT. Same tranny, same pumkin

hc_416 04-22-2014 07:09 PM

Me either, but when I talked to the guy he said there must be a difference, that and the reason they have the 09-13 is customer's went out measured and then they made it. He also said they don't have one for the 08 because no one went and measured. I also asked him what was the difference, but he said not sure.

Isn't the whole assembly longer on the G37? Or am I not reading the comments correctly?

Yes it is and its a two piece but I have a G37 and I don't know any differences between 2008 and 2009 that impact driveshaft.

jwick 04-22-2014 07:46 PM

How much is this driveshaft your looking at anyway?

hc_416 04-23-2014 01:13 PM

It was 1050 + or - 50.

This, and why couldn't you post on MYG37? I have never had an issue in my years on there. Like was said I personally do not know of any differance between the years. I could be wrong but I really don't think anything changed with the drive shafts etc on the G37 Coupe 6MTs. Now if you have one of the 5MT that could be a different story.

ZBro16 04-24-2014 12:24 PM

I imagine the shop may be confused as they could be looking at the sedan driveshaft by mistake. That would make sense in the context of the sedan, as the sedan was still on the 3.5L for MY2008 while that changed for MY2009. That would be different transmission/driveshaft setup.

As far as the coupe goes, I can't remember much, if any, differences between the two years aside from maybe different color swatches for interior/exterior.

:tiphat:Hey guys, back with a update. I found a company (pstds) that makes a carbon fiber driveshaft for my car. They also sell aluminum yokes to go with it. Really looking forward to see how it go's. I just did a round of mods which consist of, CF driveshaft with alu yokes, z1 3.90 gears and rebuild kit, CSF alu radiator/Cond, and a stillen oil cooler. I also have a lot of other mods. I really hope to break 320/240 on a mustang dyno with all the mods I have, thou it might be a little lofty, considering I only made 309/225 my last dyno, but that was with a bad tune/small air leak. Well thanks for all the help also I think the company makes driveshaft's for other cars if you would like to get one yourself.
