As folks here have said, this is a track car version of the Camaro. You pay more for the others, but you also get longer lasting tires, more driveability, AC, a better stereo, etc.
I think the Z28 is impressive as hell, but let's be real, it's a track toy. More practical than an Ariel Atom, but not as liveable as a GTR or 911. I mean, I do believe the price for performance argument is a valid one, but this isn't a completely apples-to-apples comparison. The GT2/GT3 Porsches are the stripped down track versions of the 911. But hey, I drive a RWD chevy with an LS7 engine, so I'm biased |

I read this article today both at the newsstand and on my email from MT. It is boggling how they came up with it despite the numbers. Goes back to what is fresh and the value regardless of performance. Purist will defy and go with driving experience. Big deal if they put an LS motor on a cheap Merincan body. Tranny will sh!t out under 75k.I've had my fair share of American cars. They all stunk in the long run. As much as I'd like to put my money on US soil, I've yet to have a great long term experience. Still rooting fo Go 'merica someday but not on this one. MT is like any other publication is only informative, always biased, and never the ultimate authority.

I've only owned American cars expect the Z and have never had a problem with them. I think the whole idea that a lot of people have in their minds about American cars isn't true anymore. They are just as competive as any other car nowadays. Look at the CTS-V for example.

i for one don't hate american cars, i just tire of the good ol' boys saying every hateful thing under the sun whether the import wins or the domestic wins "such and such" comparisons cause in the end that is not what a true automotive enthusiast is and most domestic fan boys can't seem to accept the fact that the japanese do, in fact, produce performance cars that rival or even beat american cars. i'm not going to make excuses either, the camaro won the hot lap and i commend GM for taking the time to actually make the Camaro what it should have been all along and doing a bang up job of it, but the fact remains that the Z/28 is an all out track focused car and if you're really going to do an apples to apples comparison i think it would only be fair to compare it to the track focused versions of the cars they are comparing it to a.k.a. the nismo gt-r and the porsche gt3

I'll be honest though. I wondered if an LS7 will fit the Z.
In addition, I must balance things out and say that this Z28 breaks the old notion that Merican cars only do well in straight line. I'll give GM that.

Who should really be mad about this is the 911 turbo! it's new! at least this GTR is on it's way out the door. And Nissan should trash that so call "Track Edition" GTR.
This reminds me of the Boss 302 and how they said that was faster. then it ran on other tracks and got trashed. I call for a Rematch! GTR beat ZR1 in more than 23 tracks. And i know this Z/28 isnt faster the the ZR1 or a Zo6 with the added The Z06 and the Z07 Performance Package Talk about bad review.

Not at all. A 911 base is still an $80k car with a nice interior (and exterior if you like Porsche design. I don't though). It still has the Porsche characteristics and can still handle. A Camaro base can be had for what? $20k? Your choice of garbage interior or garbage exterior, Buick inspired handling and found on driveways of high school teenagers and rental car lots.
