I sense more broken pistons in the future. Can't even pull 4th gear. What a crock! 2015 WRX preliminary results: 230 whp / 260wtq.. A completely different car! - NASIOC

I don't think there will be many piston issues with the new direct injection setup on the WRX. Piston issues are widely overstated too. I don't really see this as Subaru sucking. Using a 10+ year old engine in the new STi certainly sucks though. I'm holding off not because I'm worried about my pistons, but because I know there is a better engine with far less turbo lag down the line.

I finally got to see an STI in person tonight. A sale man from Audi was trading in his plasma blue 2014 with 1800 miles on it for a 2015 white STI.
I will say that it does look much better and more aggressive in person. I'm digging it. However, I test drove a 2011 STI sedan almost a year ago and was not impressed with the power so I'm guessing this will be about the same. It should really really have 350-400hp stock at the crank to appeal to more people like myself.

I liked my 09 and 11. But unless you know the factory tune and many stock an modded motors blowing up because subi can't make a descent tune, then you can't hate them.

You love it and so do magazines because you don't know what the crap azz tune looks like. If you haven't had yours blow up or don't know they blow all the time, of course you'll love it.

Get a tune , problem solved. Plus sti is so much more than motor.
And the vq is how old......

Ha you'd think wouldn't you? Well the damage is already done once driven on the stock tune. It's called micro cracking that eventually splits the piston. Also a tune doesn't fix the horrible fuel system. You have to parallel the lines and remove the returns that take fuel away before they enter the motor. Been installed since 08 and when all started popping.
And the sti isn't much. Since 09 the WRX has had a faster 1/4 and a track time around VIR till the 11 sti came out with the wing and upgraded suspension. Even then the powers only been around 10hp stock vs stock and equal once tuned. The sti'a goodies don't help it when the WRX is lighter. If you upgrade brakes and suspension on the WRX and /or on the sti the WRX is still a better car. Still faster and a lot less money spent! As for the new WRX it might be slower now even upgraded because a 2.0 motor will not put power and torque down like the old ones.

Also the new WRX has a new 6spd which actually makes it a lot slower than the previous years, making the STi stand out.....

Then you don't tune nor have you seen an OEM tune. It's like tying to explain physics to a first grader. Good luck with the time bomb.
