Extended Cab or Quad/Crew Cab Truck?

Well, after many years of faithful service, I'm finally thinking about replacing my '92 Toyota Hilux. I've noticed the past decade that crew cab trucks are now the norm, but I'm hesitant in sacrificing bed length. Most of the time I don't need that extra 1'-2', but there have been several occasions where I definitely would've had stuff hanging out the back if it were a short bed.

I don't have a family so I don't need the extra cab space. But given my other car is a Z, it might be a good idea to have a crew cab for those time I would need to give a ride to friends.

Just wondering what other truck owners think.

The backward-opening doors are a pain in the *** on the extended cab trucks. If someone parks close to you you can't open the front doors enough to open the back halfass doors.

:iagree:
Also, what about also getting a long bed to gain back some extra length?
My dad has a quad cab dodge 3500 with a long bed dually, that thing is loooooooony.

Good point. My truck is old skool extended cab that didn't have rear doors, so not being able to open those half doors isn't necessarily a deal breaker. But I'll take a closer look at that when I start shopping around. Thanks for the input!

Yeah I know they have long beds optional with some crew cabs. But of course it's harder to park those, and my garage isn't all that big so I need to make sure it'll fit. And if anyone says "park it in the street" :gtfo2:

Because saying '92 Toyota pickup sounds boring lol.

The rest of the world (still) calls it the Hilux. For some reason they dropped the name in the 70's until they brought in the Tacoma name in the 90's.

What do you use your Toyo for now? If it's cargo, stick with the King Cab, if you use it to shuttle people once in a while (doesn't sound like it), go with a Crew Cab. As others have mentioned, you could always go with a Crew Cab-Long Bed. There's always the Bed Extender option on the Crew Cab-Short Bed as well.

I used to have a 2004 Titan king cab and it just wasn't large enough when hauling people. I'm 6ft and if I had anybody taller than a toddler in the rear seats then I had to move my seat up and sat my balls on the steering wheel.

I now have a 2008 Titan Crew Cab and love it. Yes, I wish the bed was slightly larger, but it would be a pain to park! Nissan does make a 7ft bed option with the crew cab, and I believe Ford offers 6.5ft option with the crew cab, rather than the standard 5.5ft that comes with almost every crew cab.

I'm just about to pull the trigger on a new truck myself though. As much as I love my Titans, I can't seem to pick up a 2014 due to the styling being outdated. I test drove a 2014 Tundra crew max and loved it. It's like a limo, sits higher, wider, and the electronics are leaps and bounds ahead of the Titan as far as the stereo system and such. However, I will more than likely end up with a 2500 crew cab chevy z71 diesel LT/LTZ since I want a diesel.

Nonetheless, the crew cab is the way to go! You'll regret the extended cab!

However, recent research to the lithium-ion batteries used in electric and hybrid vehicles may create a battery that yields a longer range for the motorist, as well as eliminating the fire risks associated with the batteries currently being used. The secret, says the report, is in trading out the liquid electrolytes for a progressive solid form.
