Should I spend the money on the Z to get it to my goal (JTran out of Houston will do all the work) or should I trade it in for a higher platform? Cars I have been looking at include the Nissan GTR, Mustang Saleen 351 black label, or Cadillac CTS V.

As always your input is gladly appreciated.

that's not an upgrade....

The GTR is a good choice, maybe a used 911.

to be honest, when you have a sports car that its value is in the 100k range, the cost of the maintenance will not be cheap.

I read through the thread and notice you just recently got to a better position financially, if you are going to purchase a new car, yes it's an upgrade and it's a reward to yourself but are you sure you wanna put yourself into bigger car-loan aka bigger payment??

Plus all the extra cost on the maintenance on those kind of car....

why dig a hole when you just filled one...?

you just got promoted and your wife got a raised and your debt is down to 2k, I will suggest you don't change the way you spend, thus you will start to have some savings in your bank account.

Trust me, you'll be much much much happier to have a decent amount of saving in the bank account than to drive a 911.

car wise, stick to the Z and put some money in to mod it, step by step, it won't cost you arm & leg overnight thus it'll be like a mod journey

after all, you will have your 700whp Z, which you'll be proud of your own mod-project, AND you have a good lump-sum of saving in the bank account, which gives you much more options on what you can/want to do in the future.
