From a reliability standpoint, they lag the Japanese significantly. That's a fact. That's not a matter of opinion, nor it is in some way lessened because a Japanese car had a recall.

They look, sound and drive great. They just have more issues.

Issues are just that. There a lot of folks who value an experience over simple reliability. If a car appeals to me in the soul and I have the money I go for it. Stats are great and they never cover the intangible experience some vehicles bring.

appeals to the soul... very uncommon for japanese cars. maybe classic cars like datsun days.

cars are just tools for most people. like a screw driver. yes, it is nice to have wera and wiha driver set as i do. but for most people they dont mind their pos stanley screw driver they bought at target or homedepot (when they went out for garden trim, plasti-shitt :ugh:). :D

The intangible experience of driving a loaner car while mine is in the shop? I'll pass.

And for high 60's, this doesn't look bad at all, to me.

I doubt the $60k Ghibli will be any faster than a 5.0 Mustang or 370Z for that matter....Luxurious & looks good, yes...but nowhere near GT-R or Corvette fast. Completely different target markets. It's an XFR/CTS/S6/M5 competitor and fits right in with that segment.

Ridiculous. Cars break. Read this site much?

Loaners are also given out for routine service appts as well. Now that we have cleared that up.

Easy there dude. I'm not insulting Das Fatherland. I'm just pointing out the fact that the heirarchy of car reliability goes something like this:

Japanese
Korean
German
American

Italian

British

i suppose euro cars are at best a mistress or girlfriend. not a wife you'd commit yourself to. :icon17:

You lease German cars. Then you can give them back.

I bet it would be, but never did I say it'd be near GTR fast. Just saying it looks miles sexier than the GTR and Corvette (C7).

Since we digressed to a quality discussion by origin here is the US ranking from JD power of Cars(not SUV etc)

Top Rated Cars - 2013 Initial Quality Study

35 cars ranked:

Euro models 10 chosen
Asian - 18 models chosen
US - 7

Not bad for these horrible Euro models of which I own one listed(GTi). Asian models continue to do well. I own one listed my- 370Z. Glad I have both spectrums covered :)

On topic - Maserati sales have exploded(virturally doubled from 2012 numbers), and from what the local dealer tells me they have a good reputation here for quality.

That being said German models are sophisticated(maybe too sophisticated) and in terms of electronics have more issues. The Germans think they do electronics well but in actuality its Asian makers who do the best. Styling wise I think Euro makers do the best in terms of looks.

Lol, JD Power
