I've noticed that the korean automakers were ditching the larger engines and going with turbos to make up the slack. OF course, I was told that Hyundai was buying their V6s from Mitsubishi, so I can understand if they would rather not have to buy when they could build.
My experience with rental Optimas and Sonatas tells me that they don't have the acceleration with the turbo I4s as they did with the V6s. So personally I am not a fan of the trend. There is no replacement for displacement.

OF course, Kia has been experimenting with a sports car for several years now. Honestly, I'm surprised that it has taken them this long. But again, this is another concept, so we'll see if they actually go through with it, or just keep making econo-cars.

I've never owned a Kia, and likely won't anytime soon, but why the ire toward them? As a Japanese car enthusiast I'm glad the Korean competition is there to keep the Big 3 from getting complacent, as they had been over the last decade (especially Toyota). |

It's nice to see more sports cars coming out for bigger competition.
What I would like to see is more competition against the EVO/STI and maybe even a car company coming out with something to compete against the GTR at a cheaper price. |

There is no replacement for displacement. This is why people go with bigger displacement to make bigger power. Look at some people that turbo their cars and also modified their engines to increase the displacement. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk 4 |

Lol, just being a smartass. Anyway, my argument is that I wouldn't write-off a new sports car just because it uses a turbo-4. I imagine a BRZ-type car with FI and better appointments/quality would be a pleasure to own. |
