The roadster was a love/hate thing with many owners, it was Tesla's first go at a car.
The Model S is much better and very well improved. The push for the investigation is clearly coming from closed doors by "key" people who wish to see Tesla falter. The issue is Musk has tons of money, is extremely smart, and is the next era business man. In 20 years this will be viewed as a minor road bump for the company and will be laughed off.
