Possibly Totaled The G

So a good number of people know me here and this morning I crashed and looks like I bent the frame.

If its a total loss how does this factor into all the aftermarket parts Ive placed on it? Kinda strapped for cash so buying it back after a total loss may not be in my budget as well.

Any help is really appreciated. It's sunday so I wont find out what happens till tomorrow. (BTW no injuries, and just me and an unfortunate bus poll)

Wonka2581 10-20-2013 07:53 PM

OH NOOOOOOO, Man that sucks. Im so sorry to hear this..:shakes head:

Good thing your ok, I would submit all after market parts to insurance, you never know. Keep us posted.

shaun66 10-20-2013 08:06 PM

bummer sorry to hear. I've been told you can swap out parts if its totaled. Like give them your stock exhaust and you take back the aftermarket. Don't know how true that is though.

Thanks, Im just insanely happy my son wasn't in the car. There was a 1.5ft wooden power poll right next to where I hit. If I hit that the cop said they might have been pulling me out of the car rather than me stepping out on my own.

Okay so they will take aftermarket parts into consideration? That was a major concern for me.

Im thinking of straying away from nissan though. 335i is a possibility. Again, wont know anything till tomorrow.

Felix 808 10-20-2013 08:09 PM

Man sorry to hear. Glad your OK after that, everything else can be replaced ;)

Good luck with it

They may cover some of the aftermarket stuff if you've got receipts, but usually only a small amount. If you've got a lot of money in aftermarket parts, they usually require you to have additional coverage for them. You should be able to go up to the salvage yard and swap out the aftermarket stuff for the OEM stuff no problem.

Ill most likely do that with the wheels then. I don't have the OEM hood so i guess I have to take that hit. I can also take my HFC's since I have the OEMs. Man this whole thing is a headache lol.

Call them and ask before you start parting it out, but you should be ok.

Yea, for sure. I'd hate to part out and run into problems with my insurance company because of it.

In the future, ask them if they'll add additional coverage for aftermarket parts so you don't have anything to worry about.

cooltoy 10-20-2013 08:28 PM

Oh crap. She'll never fly again. Sorry, but you are OK and that's all that matters.

I wasn't even aware this was a possibility :(

HAHAHA! I knew I shouldn't have taken her too low to the ground!

Chuck33079 10-20-2013 08:33 PM

It depends on the company. A lot of insurance companies will happily sell you a rider for aftermarket stuff. Some won't.

SS_Firehawk 10-20-2013 08:45 PM

Man, I'm so sorry to hear about your car. I hope you get things sorted out. I'm in a situation where I have $20k in the car and USAA only covers 5k in aftermarket parts. I don't know what to value the car at to get proper coverage.

Thanks Firehawk. 5k? That's crazy! I'll probably get 25.00 for my stuff then haha. I have mercury because a friend recommended them. This will be my first claim with them.... I'm nervous.

Sorry about the bad news SG. The good thing is no one was hurt. Hope you come up with a quick replacement.

Chuck33079 10-20-2013 10:18 PM

There's a gorgeous TT 370 that just went up for sale if you're planning on keeping it in the VQ family.

ZeroZeta 10-20-2013 10:22 PM

Glad you and the fam are ok Sgt. Sorry don't have any insights regarding how to handle the insurance.

I wish, but my son and my wife roll with me constantly. Gonna go 335i and grab a procede v2 if it is totaled.

Wonka2581 10-20-2013 10:43 PM

What ever you get I hope you still stay on the forum ;)

UNKNOWN_370 10-20-2013 10:45 PM

Sorry to hear of your loss but happy everyone is ok.... Good luck with your next endeavours... The 335 should be a pricey but fun mod project.

I probably wont mod this one. Sucks, but this accident made me realize how quickly that can all go :(

zefaulter 10-20-2013 11:13 PM

Oh shitty situation my friend.... Hope it all works out for you

Trips 10-21-2013 12:17 AM

Very sorry to hear what happened :( And Im glad to hear your Okay :)

faceglide 10-21-2013 02:12 AM

Very very sad bro, RIP one to one sexy *** g37s...you walked out tho, so nothing to be down about.

335i really is a good option, much easier with passengers, any of the stage tune options provide amazing drivability. The wife rocks a sedan, I can imagine a coupe being a load of fun with some mods(but $$$).

Theres some REALLY great cars coming on the horizon 2015-2016, if they do come out. So I personally would try to not get stuck too deep into something new, even going used for a few years just to hop on the next hype train. **so long as it has no electric motors...srsly**

MadChemist 10-21-2013 05:27 AM

From experience, most insurance will cover up to a certain amount in price of mods. For USAA, it is 5k and you have to have all of your receipts for the parts. 335 is a nice car but get ready to pay big for maintenance parts. I just got out of the BMW scene, cool cars but doing the upkeep correctly is costly.

Mr&Mrs 10-21-2013 06:56 AM

Sorry to hear this brother, glad you are ok. The 335i is a nice car but IMO the G looks way better. Plus it is a lot cheaper to maintain. It is a tough decision but really cant go wrong either way.

Waiz 10-21-2013 01:55 PM

Damn, well as long as you're ok that's all that matters

What happened?

driving VDC off at 5am in the fog. Left turning light turns yellow so I push through it and during the turn my back end comes out. I corrected but I guess it was a bit too much for the slippery road because it snapped and sent me the other direction... into a bus pole. I feel stupid.

Damn! all bad man.
Glad you're okay.
Hopefully everything works out. This happened to a friend of me once, he had just added all these aftermarket parts to his car, but unfortunately he was not able to retrieve any of it. ( brand new tires, rims, among other things.) Hopefully this is not the case with you. Good luck!

kenchan 10-21-2013 03:34 PM

that sucks. even with vdc off, throttle up condition should've corrected your yaw...even if it's not a graceful recovery.

GL with the repairs.

G37Sam 10-21-2013 04:02 PM

I'm sorry to hear Goldy, glad you're ok!

SgtGoldy 10-21-2013 04:36 PM

Well since I have this thread going, anybody have suggestions on a next ride other than the 335i that I have been looking at?

I dont want to spend over 25k (gonna just go used)

A 25k 335i is gonna break... After 50k miles those cars turn to shít. And if you wanna mod it... Get a trash can, sell your house, and any other possessions, get $100 bills and burn them as fast as you can...

(I know the tuning chips are cheap, but those turbos are the size of a baby's fist, spool them long enough, and they'll be toast. And hope that's all that breaks)

synolimit 10-21-2013 04:46 PM

Don't forget the high pressure fuel pump issues and electrical wiring problems!!

Yeah that they "fixed"

(Somehow every -35i owner I know has had their car lemmoned... And by every, I mean all 5 of them... Oh yeah... And one of theirs caught fire on the freeway and melted itself to the god damn pavement

TerribleONE 10-21-2013 04:52 PM

Back when I had mine, my cousin crashed it on the freeway and I thought it was totalled forsure by looking at the damage, ended up being about 3-4K shy.. I ended up dumping the car anyways but was able to at least re coup some money from the mods that werent toast. GL man

Doesn't really look that bad... At all... And you told me that no airbags were deployed too...

My vote is that you're going to stay with us...
