Hoepfully, there was a chunk of concrete missing. Thats what scared me.

After looking at the damage I don't think its enough to get it totalled but thats only if the frame etc is straight. Good luck and I am just glad you are ok. One thing about Gs though is they are a very safe car. If I was to have an accident I would want to be in a G.

TheGreatOne 10-21-2013 07:01 PM

Crossing my fingers for you dude, sorry to hear about the accident.

Glad you're all good

Yea, I felt so stupid haha. I take pride in my driving ability. I'm starting to re-think how good of a driver I actually am lol.

Good guide in case I need to buy another car. I'll keep it in mind. Maybe I can find a old women whose husband past and she has his R35 in the garage and she doesn't know the value of it and I can grab it for 10k and keep the 15k for maintenance....

A man can dream right?

LOL!! I've know of people that pass and they give their cars to their closest friends. Just treat him like a god and you should be good to go. Lol.

UPDATE:
They are gonna put it on something that pulls the frame and make sure its spot on. So far they're thinking it wont have to be totaled out and it'll take about 3weeks worth of work. Also my insurance is replacing all my mods and even replacing my bent wheel. I'm pretty happy but... scared of how it will affect my monthly dues to them. I'm sure they're gonna sky rocket :(

SS_Firehawk 10-22-2013 08:41 PM

Woot, CG's! minus the skyrocketing insurance. You don't have accident forgiveness? Well, depending how all this turns out with your insurance, it will be a true test to how their service is when you need them. After all, how much money have you given them all these years?

you'd likely come out better that way. when I totalled my 09 R1, i had $3000 in parts on it, and my insurance only paid me 20% of that. so i only got $600 for all my parts i had bought probably 2 months before the wreck. my exhaust on my bike cost more than what they paid me =\

she was a beauty too =(

Actually just switched to them after being accident free with nationwide for over 5 years. December marks one year with them.... lol.

I agree. It'll also give me a chance to repaint the headlights and the grill (going with my oem color). Possibly doing an iron man mod to the headlights as well

Frame puller... Yeahhhh... I'd push for a total... You can't just stretch it back and say it's going to be as strong...

:(

Jordo! 10-23-2013 01:33 AM

Some of the parts' value can be added to the car when the insurance calculates the value -- meaning a bigger payout.

Alternatively, you could pull off whatever you have tools for -- the insurance company will probably want replacements (i.e., if you have aftermarket sways, they'll want the originals or they'll deduct that from the value of the car).

Good luck!

Waiz 10-24-2013 01:06 PM

As long as the crumple zones are intact I would be ok with driving a car that had the frame slightly pulled

Very common occurrence in the autobody business and perfectly safe and legal. It's not like you're building a race car anyway there should still be plenty of structural rigidity

kenchan 10-24-2013 02:48 PM

i would just get it fixed, and trade it in for another car before it shows up on carfax.

To be honest they think it might not be bent but they're gonna level it (is that the right termonology?) before just handing it over to make sure.

So is there a way to avoid getting it reported... Cause that sucks lol jk.... not really (if you know PM me... It'll be our secret....). I thought about selling it to be honest. I just hate car shopping with a giant passion.

Your insurance policy may pay you for the devaluation of your car. Mine did.

yah no idea how that works. but wat i do know is that when i traded in a car with $5K+ damage the same day i got it back from the bodyshop due to some middle aged woman backing into my wife at a parking lot, the dealer that accepted the trade said the car had clean carfax so they would give me a great trade on it. even while it still smelled like paint. :icon17:

so i came home with a new car. :p

skidad62 10-25-2013 05:03 PM

If you have heavy mods - best way is to be proactive and have your car appraised. Most insurers will insure to that value for a reasonable premium. I had my last ride appraised at over $40k more than book value due to extreme mods.

YES! This is LAW in some states, but even in states where it isn't, it's worth arguing with the insurance company.

In building your argument, you can get the car appraised or go by KBB value using an online calculator that takes accidents into account.

I would absolutely do this unless, of course, they just declare it totaled.

It was measured out today to see if there was any frame damage.... *insert drum roll*

There was none! But the cost of repairs keep slowly climbing as they find more things broken... I'm three weeks out so far.
