Texas Highway DPS

This Is The Texas Highway Patrol's Monster New Cop Car

The DPS (Or Dr. Pepper Squad if you're a local) took a Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 and over 470 horsepower, threw on an AFE Power intake and other unseen modifications, a light bar, and other small details on it to make the most insane DPS car since those old SSP Mustangs from the '80s and early '90s.

You think they have fistfights around the office to drive that instead of a POS Crown Vic?

kenchan 10-08-2013 02:14 PM

I love my state!

Arrvaxx 10-08-2013 02:57 PM

The love of Dr Pepper in Texas has always amused me. I swear Texas must account for 90% of its sales.

Yep, the number 1 selling police vehicle currently is a SUV (forget which model). Houston has some fun vehicles:
-Dodge Chargers (all white or black with no external lights)
-Camaros (all white with no external lights and a bump bar on the front)
-A few SUVs have popped up but those are easy to spot, I think most so far have been standard patrol vehicles.

ElVee 10-08-2013 03:15 PM

Yup, here in central Iowa I've seen plenty of new Chargers as police cars.

What really sucks is they blend in remarkably well when unmarked (and with normal color schemes). Seen a few of them around in surprising places.

Well...his title, "Peace Officer" is under review for whatever reason. But yes, he did donate these, along with the ghost Camaros in Houston.

And I 100% support it too, all the way from Phoenix. Texas feels like it's my second home.

Yep, most of the patrol cars for MSCO are Chargers now. Some of the city PDs have them too.

Still a lot of Crown Vics for DPS, but they did get the new Explorer for their SUV and K-9 units it seems.

Pretty sure I'd up and leave and head over to Dubai to patrol there.

Its under review because the school passed him even though he didn't take enough hours. The school got in some **** for it as well.

It couldn't be that much worse than the old fox body cop stangs or the camaros. Hell, a crown vic is probably pretty terrible on gas as well.

My taxes help pay for the gas in the car and I have no issue with it. The car can be used for high-speed pursuits, but it will primarily be making the rounds at schools and fairs and such. I'm all for that, anything to get kids interested in law enforcement and see cops on their side and not as the enemy. Anything that increases the visibility of cops in the community is a good thing in my opinion, and if they have to have one car burning a ton of gas to achieve that, then so be it.

Also a ton of the police departments here in Texas, and especially in Dallas, use Tahoes. I doubt those use much less gas than that beast will.

yes, because these always end so well...

Getting to chase people at triple digit speeds would be the primary reason I would consider becoming a cop.

I've been practicing my 100mph+ PIT maneuver in GTA V.

I'm ready. :driving:
