Test drove a 2014 Camaro SS and might pick it up tomorrow

My Nismo has been gone since June. I've been driving a shitty 96 Lexus LS400 since I sold the Z and was thinking of buying something cheap like an Xterra, but I just can't do it lol. I love having a fast car.

So I went to the Chevy dealer today and test drove the new 2014 2ss. Although many disagree, I love the new headlights and taillights. Acceleration was awesome and the sound of the V8 is beautiful.

I was able to work them down to 550/month and 3500 down for a 3 year lease with 12k miles/year for a fully loaded 2SS.

I wanted to go lower and they said they could give me a 1SS with upgraded leather interior for 500/month, but I was able to get that down to 450/month which I thought was pretty good.

I'm pretty sure I could get them down to 500/month on the fully loaded 2SS though, so I may try to do that first or just settle for the 1SS.

I'd be pretty happy with those payments. I really liked the car and could definitely see myself enjoying it for a while. And I get tired of cars pretty fast and always get the itch to buy something new, so I think a lease is good for me.

Just wanted to see what you all think of the car and if you think I am getting a good deal on the lease

:iagree: 1LE IS definitely the way to go. The performance is huge for the money. It kicks boss302, azz in erformance for $8,000 less if you do the 1SS 1LE.

Unless its paid for by your job, I personally wouldn't ever recommend anyone lease anything...

UNKNOWN_370 09-30-2013 03:25 AM

True leasing a sports car is kinda ridiculous but, who am I to judge. I'm just going on which car has the best value factor. And if you're gonna lease a SPORTS car? The 1LE will probably fair better with value retention.

Why?

Sports car leases imho don't make sense. You can't enjoy them the way you want to. I usually make at minimum, small performance mods. Especially on a muscle car. There's always something to adjust. Tinkering with a lease can potentially effect it's value. Usually your payment is as high as a purchase minus a couple years of payments. Might as well play for keeps and be free to truly enjoy your sports car.

If it were an altima, accord or Camry? I'd consider leasing. They are inexpensive leases that hold excellent residual value... But sports cars? Makes no sense.

i like the way it looks outside and what it sounds like.. but sitting inside a camaro is about the worst car interior ive ever been in. Not just the look / feel but just the visibility and the way its the dash is so high and the windows so short ugh. hate it.

Makes no sense? Why would You want to be stuck with a car when you want to switch it up every couple years.. Doesn't matter if sport car or not, not everyone gets into an entry level sports car to want to have/need to modify just to enjoy..

I thought about camaro before getting z . Glad u like it. As long as u get the miles you want 12 000 yr seems a little low for Atlanta area. But I think the payment should be under 500 for what your putting down

Leasing can be a good thing depending on what your plans are. Say you're after getting a mortgage, but want a nice car - leasing is a lesser hit on your debt-income ratio than buying the car, as your credit is only on the hook for the payments and adjusted capital cost or whatnot over total duration of the lease. At least that's what my buddy told me. He just leased a G37 and ended up getting into a new house shortly after and the G only amounted to roughly $19k on his debt-income ratio. His particular G retails for $41k or so.

I leased my rav 4 ev And leaf because I don't know if the resale will shoot up or drop to the bottom. It's almost like an insurance

Z-Girl 12 09-30-2013 01:55 PM

3500 down? money down is that a must?

bdavis89 09-30-2013 02:03 PM

So...36 months and $21,500 later (assuming a $500 pmt) you're left with...nothing?

That's my problem with leasing, unless it's a work vehicle.
