Tesla Battery Swap Station

Tesla's 90 second battery swaps will power EVs faster than gas pumps fill tanks (video)

Quote:

In a demonstration at its design studio, it beat what it claims is the fastest gas pump in LA by exchanging a drained car battery pack for a fresh fully charged one in just 90 seconds. When the $500,000 stations start rolling out, owners will stay in the car the whole time then either swap the battery back for their original on a return trip, or get a bill for the difference based on how new their battery is. According to Reuters, the exchange is expected to cost owners between $60 - $80 each time or about the cost of 15 gallons of gas

Oh wow. So THAT'S what was going on at the Tesla facility last night. I was wondering why there were about a hundred of them roaming around the parking lot over there.

Holy nutsack...$99.00 to fill that Audi. :eekdance:

Is it bad that I wanna drive it...just to be that guy....THEN go buy the Tesla?

How big is that Audi tank? 25g??

It never takes me 3' to fill a tank from E. :shakes head:

Still, I'd prefer the Audi of the Tesla. Ugly car and I enjoy gasoline/petrol based vehicles much more.

Well, tank filling is all dependent on the station.
I have been to a brand new shell with new pumps and can fill 17 gallons in just a few minutes, but go to an older station and it can be 5+ minutes.
