From Z to Z... 06
It's been a crazy week.
I found a buyer for my lovely 40th last weekend so we met up, did all the paperwork, and we was on his way with my baby. He had been looking for a Z for several months and found my car on CL. I had decided that if I could get the right price for my car then I'd sell it and start looking for a Z06. A lot of other cars were on my shopping list but the Z06 was always at the top for many reasons. Prior to selling my car, I had been keeping my eye on classifieds to see what the market was looking like and to see if any local cars showed up on the radar. Once my car sold, I started diving into the vette forums and found one that met all my criteria down in LA. Single owner, low miles, fairly stock, clean paint - After several discussions, lots of research, and a carfax I decided the flight down to pick it up was worth it. Man, the Z06 is a monster! It's leaps and bounds faster than anything I've ever driven (996 Turbo, RS4, GT500) yet its much more practical then you'd think. I'd say it makes a better DD than the Z. Much quieter on the highway, has as much if not more storage, scrapes about the same amount as my lowered Z did, has better visibility all around (especially in the front), and of course has ridiculous power on tap! My Z's handling was very crisp and flat since I had it lowered on Swifts and put in Whiteline sway bars, it really felt good. The Z06 doesn't seem as crispy (maybe because the previous owner has the coilovers on the softer side) but you can tell it can handle, it just sucks onto the road and feels very wide (however the cabin is much narrower than the 370z). Even if I turn the coilovers firmer, I can tell the handling in the Z06 is a much different feeling, possibly from the downforce. I don't know how to describe it yet. You can tell the limits of this car are extremely high so daily driving doesn't allow you to really approach them at all where as on the Z you could ring the car out much easier. I put close to 500 highway miles on it getting it home and wow, the ride was comfortable, the cockpit was quiet, and when you wanted to have fun man could you! At 70, 3rd gear pulls likes a freight train. You will get pinned so hard into your seat and 120mph will fly up on you! There is torque everywhere, it's so addictive. I absolutely loved my Z and if I had the $ and the space to keep it I would have. This is the best internet community by far so I'll definitely be sticking around. Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend! A wolf among sheep

I just need to get rid of those chrome wheels now! Possibly powder coat them black or buy the Z06 Carbon Wheels: [/URL]

Sweet ride. I would love to own one but haven't hit my mid-life crisis yet.

Hotness!!!! Congrats... I been thinking on a vette hard or a used GT-R. Its like you said. What the Z is not giving me is the torque i want once ur up in the 60-80mph zone and you want to take off... I have no handling issues as my Z is setup like yours was except with eibach's. Good luck with that vette man
Perfect color!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! I just moved in the opposite direction, selling my 2007 Z06 for a 2012 Nismo. It was my second Z06, but, since this one was modded (@600 HP), I just didn't want to use it as a DD. ran out of garage space, and couldn't justify keeping both. Also, I feel like I can use a greater percentage of the Z's capabilities compared to the Z06.
Enjoy it!! |

Unknown - I was contemplating a GTR also but here is why I went with the Vette: it's got a killer V8, if I were to buy a GTR it would have to be a 2011 or newer due to the upgraded tranny that you can actually launch and not void warranty which means you'd be looking to pay at least $80k, I wanted stick, I love light cars, I've always loved vettes and while stock it will pull harder on the highway than the GTR. And for half the price of a 2011+ it's a no brainer.
