Maybe I should start a thread about the crappy MS3 and Evo interiors. Why pay $22k+ for a car with the interior of a corolla?

With the GTI you're clearly paying for a more well rounded car. Want pure speed? Then get the STI/EVO. Nobody is arguing that. Some people value more than pure speed (grown ups, professionals, etc). I'm guessing you do to, otherwise you certainly wouldn't be driving a 370z when you could have gotten a Mustang GT or STi. Move along.

PS: The GTI was my second choice after the 370z.

Yeah we do, most of us. The Evo has a $17,000 transmission. The most expensive one in the group and the most advanced nannies of the group.

The Z is a well rounded car in the RWD section, but it's also the only car of it's type in the price range. The EVO, STi and Golf R are directly comparable. So in reality, you have a true choice, get a 4 door golf R and you're directly in the segment. A REAL Z Fighter and NOT a mustang substitute price competitor, you have to go upmarket to the BMWZ4 roadster, corvette and the Cayman,

That said, in that dept, hardcore enthusiasts will like the japanese versions of AWD vehicles more. Moderate enthusiasts that will use their cars for both sport and daily use may prefer the VW.

That said, opinions will vary. Go figure?

I think this is probably true. The comfort and refinement of the VW make it a nice daily, but the STI and Evo would likely blast it around a track. In fact, the Evo is a bit more "balls-out" than the STI, which is a tad more refined.

Sh0vel, Since I own a GTI, I still give a ****. But granted, your MS3 is the faster car.

m4a1, Is correct, the GTI is a hell of a lot nicer inside and it doesn't stop there. The GTI rides better, plus it is a very balanced car in how it handles turns and bumps vs the aforementioned cars.

Think of it this way. Why do you guys drive and own Z's when the Mustang GT is the faster car and can be bought for the same price, if not cheaper? Speed is just one of the variable's in choosing a car that you like.

Base price of a 4 door GTI is what I said it was. I used the 4 door to compare since thats the only way a WRX comes.

What is the big deal about a German Honda Civic? I lived in Germany for 4 years and owned 2 BMW E34s so I appreciate German engineering. Still not seeing the appeal with this FWD econobox though.
