Rumors of a new Toyota Supra have been circulating for some time now, and new reports are suggesting that the reborn Supra might be a result of Toyota’s collaboration with BMW. According to a story from Motor Trend, a new mid-size sports car is being developed as part of Toyota and BMW’s tech-sharing collaboration, and we should be seeing a concept version of the car at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show. According to the report, Tetsuya Tada of Toytoa 86 fame will also be serving as lead engineer for this new project. The story also hints at a chassis derived from the 86/FR-S platform, possible hybrid powertrains and a BMW version of the car that will wear unique sheetmetal. There is no confirmation that the new car will be called the Supra, but it seems to be a logical fit.

What would you like to see from a BMW-Toyota sports car?

Personnally, I would only want to see the finished product.

I was never a big fan of the Supra. Just too small looking to me...kinda like a college girl's car. I know the MK IV had everyone drooling, but I didn't think it was classy enough for me.

I'll stick to my NISSAN Z,.

toyota = boring cars in general, never liked them, tries too hard exterior design.
bmw = douche image, breaks down often, bland exterior design.

i guess my real question is, does toyota really need bmw's help?

i seriously doubt this... more the other way around this day and age.

I was thinking the same thing, would be better if Toyota stayed as far away from BMW as possible

I assume the collaboration with BMW means they can charge BMW prices. Plus hype train means ridiculous expensive.

Superior??? So I guess that means BMW also has one of the top 3 hightest selling electric cars in the world? Or did I miss something...oh I remember.

Nissan or as you so skillfully put it "garbage", embraced the age of technology through going green with electric cars by selling 25,000 LEAF units in the US in....what was it Bloomberg said at the end of 2nd QTR FY13....ah got it, less than half the time it took the Prius.

I'm not really sure what you planned to accomplish by flaming NISSAN on a NISSAN forum full of consumers whom actually know what they are talking about. I love your blanketed statements though "rattling seats, paint chips". Dafuq?
