The design is an improvement but doesn't seem dramatically different as stated. But the updates are all positive updates for the 1 series. There's no good shot of the grille, but it looks slightly O.D. from the angle I saw.
Either way, BMW's 1/2 series is the woulda, shoulda but i better not tuner car. It takes someone with a lot of disposable $$$$$ to start altering things under the hood. Even though, I thought the 1series was pretty decent as a whole pkg... Was priced a lot better 08-10 though... This one is definitely looking more than ok.

Let's see where BMW prices this car?:shakes head:

So is this replacing the 1 series or something? Or are they going to squeeze another coupe in between the 1 and 3 series? Realistically wouldn't they need to move the 1 down or the 3 up? I haven't looked at the prices recently, but I thought the 1 and 3 series weren't hugely different pricewise?

EDIT: The coupes start at $31.2k and $38.7k...so I guess there is room, but not really..meh

I think the 1 series will be a hatchback and wagon. The 2 series are coupes. like BMW 3 series coupes will become the 4 series.

It's something bimmer has historically done on the higher end.
5 series sedan and 6 series coupe
7 series sedan and 8 series coupe.

They are bringing that tradition down to the lower end cars.

Then when the 1 and 2 series is outrageously priced in 5 more years, BMW will bring out the 0 and -1 series. :roflpuke2:

Found this too. Looks like you're right! I had noticed that about the higher numbers, I guess it's cool they're doing it with the lower ones too. More consistent.

so is this car going to break down again?

I would kill to see the day BMW makes something that performs well and is equally reliable.

If the M2 makes 400hp and the next z doesn't, I'm might go this route (and dump it as soon as the warranty runs out) :roflpuke2:

and no longer leases cars. cash only.

then would get rid of a lot of mistaken dumbarses (douchebags). ... maybe.

BMW seems to be searching for an answer much the way Merc is. American cars are kicking *** for performance and Japanese cars are kicking *** for reliability and all are raising the bar. $40K for 3 series with heated seats isn't getting it done in North America, for 300 hp you're talking $45-50k to start.

Don't get me wrong, if you have the cash a used 335 with N54 engine can take you really far, but the rest of the lineup seems over priced.

I love the style though.

Definitely better looking than a 4 series.

Better than a 4 series, still looks like a squished i28i
