You're gonna get nothing but altima coupe hate here. It's a decent FWD ride. Fun car. I hope you enjoy it but?????

Why no real pics of your ride?

Awe, the Z is my recreation car still! These are all real pics. My fiance (6spd) took them a couple weeks ago.

Any mods planned ?

stretcho 04-28-2013 10:33 AM

My last car before my Z was a 2009 Altima Coupe 3.5 SE. I liked it a lot, aside from the fact that I let the dealer talk me out of finding one with a manual transmission. Adding front strut and rear sway bars made the car much more fun to drive than I even expected. It was a good looking car, but the 2010-2012s are much better looking IMO. Yours is especially nice. Enjoy!

sfearl1 04-28-2013 10:55 AM

Nice shots!

6spd 04-28-2013 12:48 PM

Yummy

DarkJak 04-28-2013 01:54 PM

Ah the rare 3.5 altima coupe! I swear I've only ever seen 2 of those in the wild.

Dzel 04-28-2013 01:56 PM

I do like the rear G35 type looking tail lights. Does this have the VQ in it?

My wife has a 2010, she loves it but we have had some problems already. The head gaskets were leaking coolant so they pulled the motor and replaced those under warranty. Just took it in yesterday for a weird trans slip or jump at low speeds and now they are going to replace the trans at 55K. I'm worried about the long term reliability of this car.

No real problems with my Z though.

Dzel 04-28-2013 03:06 PM

Did you purchase it used?

I really want to add the OEM spoiler and Stillen exhaust.

I thought about getting a manual, but the Z is a manual so I figured the automatic will be nice when it comes to traveling. And it still has a lot of pep. I didn't think about replacing the sway bars, but thanks for mentioning it! I'll probably look into that too. :tiphat:

Yikes, sorry to hear about your wife's car. Maybe a lemon? Hopefully you get it all straightened out because those miles are way too low to be having those problems.

Headgasket leaks seem typical for the 2007+ 3.5s in the Altima (and the Murano/Maxima as well). I had a 2008 3.5SE sedan and mine were done at 64k under warranty. The CVT seems to be hit or miss. Some last while others give out early on.

OP....I would recommend you check your headgaskets for a small leak while you're still under warranty. Easiest way is to get under the car and look up at each headgasket. You'll see green crusty residue around each head if it's leaking. It's typically a small slow seep, and you probably won't have any issues if it wasn't replaced, but I'm anal about my cars and it bothered me knowing it was there.

I just hate the look of the Altima coupe something just seem so wrong about it...but loving the amazing photography. And congrats on the whip.

I think once you throw the wing on... It does the Altima coupe a lot of justice. Also, rims, tint and a drop just make it look sick. Lastly, this car looks best in black, white and red. Void all others.

imho, Looks are subjective to packages. The torquey VQ35DE just make this a sick car to drive. It pulls so hard when you floor it. The aggressive DRM programming make the CVT tolerable to use.

Do not like. congratz though.

No need to worry. Sounds like it will be in a scrap heap long before 100K :eekdance:

Jeez... good luck getting everything resolved. I'd unload that once you run out of warranty..

The bitter irony is: That 2-tone effect also looks terrible on the R8 -- but it can be endured if its actually an R8...

No we bough the car new and I have always maintained it.

Luckily, my fiance is a mechanic so he will keep a good eye on it and look out for anything out of the norm. I sure hope it lasts because I have really grown to love the CVT.

I think the wing will definitely be good. I would love to drop it because it does look so much better that way, but the way the suspension is now is incredibly comfy. Not sure that I want to sacrifice the comfort.

I loved my Altima Coupe. Still miss it from time to time. I got a Speed3 to replace it because I needed to have something more conducive to hauling around drums and hockey gear since I bought my Z. When I'm just driving back and forth to work I really miss it. It was much more comfortable and had nicer amenities than the 3 (save the streaming bluetooth on the 3's bose - i love that.)

Mine was a 2010 3.5 6MT in Super Black on red leather. Everyone talks about how hard they are to find, so I thought I would have an easier time selling. Nada. Had it for sale over six months before I ended up trading.

I had a Greddy Spectrum Elite catback, Racingline y-pipe, Tein S-techs, AEM Intake, and RL short throw shifter. The best mods for a fun, reliable daily drive. With the bolt ons I probably needed a tune, but from 4000 RPM onward it really moved. Great car.

I had only one issue with mine - the factory fill on the brake fluid was low, which would cause the VDC/Slip/Brake lights to come on. I got that filled up and drove it for 44,000 miles until I traded it with zero other issues. Hopefully you'll do just fine with yours.

Swifts feel like oem. actually a little smoother on normal bumps, just a little firmer on some of the harsher bumps.

Akmcmahon 04-30-2013 12:23 PM

I had an Altima 4-door prior to my Z and loved it. One of the best cars you could get for the money. Put the Camry to shame. I wanted to get the coupe but the 4 door was just more practical for my needs at the time. Congrats, you will enjoy it very much.

You seem to have a very narrow perspective on life. Didn't you make a post about not being negative anymore?

Had a guy test driving a 2013 and the CVT popped during the test drive. 14 miles on the car. These things are hit/miss really. My buddy has 135,000 on his 2007 2.5 Sedan with CVT and hasn't had any issues.

Nissan warrants the CVT up to 120k anyway, so popping them at 55k is a minor inconvenience as they give you something to drive while they swap it anyway.

:iagree: This was my point JungleZ. Reliability is based on averages. Not an isolated or even minority of cases. Your post lacked supporting data and carried a negative connotation as most of your posts do. People will swear by Toyotas reliability. Think they never have issues? How about the Prius? Oh, did we forget about the brake failure issues they had where people were plowing into buildings cuz they couldn't stop? Obviously didn't stop a gazillion people from buying them.

red6spd 04-30-2013 01:59 PM

I use to have an 08 3.5SE Sedan with a 6spd. Hold on to this one because Nissan has lost their minds and dropped the V6 from the Coupes line up. Oh and all the talk about problems, I still know the guy who owns her now he has 50k+ on it with not one problem at all to report.

Toyota and Honda Reliability is on another level from Nissan it's not even debatable

This is partly true. 2003-2010 models have CVTs warrantied to 120k. 2011+ do not.

I never had an issue with my CVT and I drove mine hard, but it did have a mind of it's own. Some days it was very alive and peppy while other days it was very laggy. Do I regret it? Not one bit. However, I probably won't own another CVT vehicle for awhile. It's come a long way but I think it's got a ways to go still.

They're dropping the coupe entirely, and they dropped the MT from the sedan in 2010. You had a unicorn with your sedan.

I had three Nissans with VQ V6s with over 100,000 miles across the three and never had a single problem related to the engine.

My friend has 296,000 miles on his 2000 Maxima and has only ever replaced the starter and radiator aside from routine maintenance.

Far more successes with the VQ platform than failures.

Now the QR... different story.

b15 04-30-2013 02:58 PM

Agree. The Z is my second VQ and I love it. I do, however, miss the silky smooth 3.5 in my '08 Altima. The 3.7 definitely has more grunt, but the 3.5 sounds better when delivering it's power.

Bri7Synyster 04-30-2013 03:10 PM

How did you like the Greddy catback? I definitely want an exhaust, but not sure which one. I don't want it to be too loud, nor too soft. That is interesting that you mention the brake fluid being too low because my VDC light randomly came on when I went around the corner to the grocery store one day. I'll have to check into that. :tiphat:

The Greddy is absolutely fantastic all the way around. Very pronounced. Might be a tad quiet for your tastes until you add the racingline y-pipe - then it gets really nice. The y-pipe deletes a cat, but that cat is not monitored by the ECU and you still have two more that are, so I doubt it would even fail smog if that is a concern where you are.

I drove mine daily for a couple years in that configuration. I loved every mile. Perfect for that motor. Of the exhausts available for the AC, get the Greddy. It is expensive, but buy once cry once. The only other one to look at is Tanabe, but it is only muffler swap. Everything else pales in comparison to the fit and finish of these.

The Greddy TiC is nice, but I like the OEM-like fitment of the SE better for that car.
