Nice car, the only thing I am jealous of is the sunroof! It is such a nice feature to have on a car, especially a coupe to let some light in the cabin but oh well. Enjoy the new ride!

We put a catback on a friends Lancer with a CVT box a while back and it started buzzing around like a bee. You'd have to drive your Altima in manual mode 24/7 to truly enjoy the catback sound in my opinion.

It is much better with the VQ V6 than what you describe. That said, the experience is indeed different from a traditional gearbox.

i use to have an altima sedan 3.5 SE, it was a fun car but when it got up there, problems started coming up, granted it was a 2005 model so i dont know if the problems i was having are on the newer ones as well

if i had to do it over again though, i would have gotten a G35 coupe but i definitely do not regret owning the altima

i wish it had the CVT though, the VQ35 is fast with the CVT

The 05-06 models had the VQ "Rev Up" engines (Zs, Gs, and I imagine this trickled into the Altimas and Maximas as well) and oil consumption was rampant on those motors. At least that wrinkle has been ironed out of the VQ history after 06. The Z moved to the HR while the 07+ VQs in FWD format got a slightly revised valvetrain and ECU calibration, moving from 255 to 270hp.

Altimas and Maximas never had the "Rev Up". Both Autos and MTs had the standard DE. Common issues were the timing chain tensioners and some had oil consumption as well (not sure if it was the same reason as the Rev Ups though) The 07+ VQ35DEs got new heads/intake manifold, valvetrain, tuning, etc resulting in the 07+ having a much better top end stock than the prior VQ35DEs. They also have two VIAS vs one in the older gens. The only issue that seems to be popping up now is in the process of upgrading everything, Nissan messed with the HG and some newer VQ35DEs have a slow HG seep. Nothing major, and unless you're anal about your car like me, probably won't ever cause any issues. Other than that my VQ35 was a great motor and I wish I kept it! :(

thats what i was having problems with, it seemed like my timing was off and i had some problems with the cam position sensors

the vq35 is probably one of my favorite engines(besides the VQ37 of course), fast, torquey, sexy sounding
