are FRS drivers all d-bags?
I just have to throw this out there.. Everytime im out driving around minding my own business, and I come across an frs, they have to do some ricer fly by.. I dont understand.. It pisses me off. Are a majority of frs/brz owners like that, drive like a-holes trying to show off? FYI, I dont street race.
|
I was thinking the same thing. I was at a stop light and a dude in the other lane turns out and as he is about to drive by he felt the need to rev at me and stuff. A lot of them Seem a little butt hurt.

I said on this forum back in 2009 that no matter who you are there is always someone that thinks you're a douchebag. It's just the way it is. For the most part the ft86 guys I've come across have been cool. There are always bad apples.
|
I agree they try to the same to me, And BC i'm a LEO I flash my badge and shake my head, and they get all jaw droppd and put it into a high gear and creep down the road. its funny how quick they dont want to race any more. ..:bowrofl:
|
I guarantee there is currently a thread on some FR-S forum about all Z drivers being dbags.
Frankly the FR-S/BRZ isn't even on my radar. It's about two tiers too low to really register with me. Same tier as Miatas and RX8s and Civic Sis. |
My buddy has a frs hes a chill guy.
But his friends with a mazda 3 and boosted honda tried "runnin" me last night.:icon17: Sad to say ive never seen a bigger bunch of cornballs in my life. :roflpuke2: |
They're always silent next to me.....cuz they know they'll get crushed by the mighty Z IBTL
|
I run into more d-bag Mustang owners. It's like they all have to always rev there exhaust. Never knew you had to rev to 5K to cross over a speed hump
|
I am the lucky winner of a shared commute home with a new FRS and its wonderful owner. I see the guy several times a week and he does his best to stay way ahead of me. 3/3 of the FRS owners I have come across have been unfriendly at minimum. Doesn't bother me as I ignore other drivers but they did leave ample room in the FRS for the ego.

IDK. I really like the FRS/BRZ. Just the owners act like they have something to prove.lol I really wish this market would pick up mod support like that market has already. so many 500+rwhp builds already =/
|
I have only seen one and the Kid was this young guy..
I pulled up at the stop light and looked over at him...He would not even look at my car.. Finally after a while he looked over thinking I wanted to race. I just smiled and gave him the thumbs up to say nice car...You should have seen the grin...He seemed like a nice kid and I wasn't about to street race just to spank him.... I think prius drivers are more jerks than any car on the road..They buy a car that cannot race but drive it around like a race car... |
Mustang owners are rough around me, every 5.0 that sees the z growls their v8 right in my face.
Neighbor has a terminator cobra no freaking joke loud.. Top 5 cars that mess with me the most Toyota Camry v6 Mustang 5.0 G37 350z Audi a4 |
lol never had problems like these.
Prius owners in MD are a problem, but not because they try to race lol |
Beat them to the punch and give them a thumbs up so there are no issues. Most chill when you do that. And this applies to any driver in their cool car.
|
To be honest I have more important things to worry about.
I remember once I had a guy rev it on me and I simply showed him this https://www.carpevinoauburn.com/wp-c...ed-sign-tm.jpg He busted out laughing, And gave me a thumbs up for the laugh :icon17: |
Generally speaking, when people rev on me, I just think, "Are they going to pay my ticket? No? Then why bother to risk it?"
|
Ya i live in wannabe stunna heartland. South Orange County where everyone wants to show off. Cant even go to the gym after work without haters trying to race me.
|
I'm either oblivious or lucky. Live in LA work in OC and I don't believe I've ever had anyone try to race me at stop lights or rev at me. Infact, on the highway I'm usually the one going above the speed limit and passing everyone. Makes me wonder if other people think I'm doing a ricer fly-by and if, perhaps, you guys are just imagining these scenarios.
Just throwing it out there; if it's something you're looking for, you're eventually going to find it. Humans being pattern finding creatures and all... It's also possible my car looks too stock for people to care. No external mods  |
Ya bad luck i guess too much city driving, I don't really get revved on anymore but for some reason people get excited when they see the z and want to pass me. Of course I just let them but man it hasn't been pleasant at times.
|
i have a friend with an FR-S, alway ranting on about how superior his car is in comparison to the Z. Bottom line, i dont bother pay attention to ignorant people on the road or off.

Apparently we envy their maneuverability and telepathic handling and braking. No. Seriously, even tho' its significantly slower, takes more room to brake, and can't turn nearly as well as alleged, we are all envious villains in their lil fantasy world :icon17: However, it is a bit faster around a track than a 350Z (at least the earlier models). Maybe they can turn their potential for douchery towards them... :shakes head: |
I got a big time fly-by from a Civic Si the other night. I wish the dude could see me yawning as he did it. (Literally, it was just a coincidence, but I was yawning.)
Am I the only one who has this problem with GTI owners more than anything else? Maybe it's a regional thing... |
Sometimes they throw out a rev just to get your attention and hope that you rev in response so they can check it out. It's like dogs sniffing each other's balls, or trying to get a semi to airhorn ya. :)
I often get the 'oooh-look-at-that-car--roll-down-the-window-so-I-can-hear-it' reaction. |
Found the old quote, from 2009, but it applies here:

Sometimes the kids in Scions, Civics, etc. are just being friendly and want to see/hear your car run. :driving: |
I have the first BRZ fly by thread somehwere around here from a couple months back, so you know where i stand. lol
Pretty much any A-hole in any brand car trying to agg me and fly by me is going to be called out a douche. It's not my fault though if there are a small batch of cars that repeatedly chase me around and i call them out for their Douchebaggery. I don't have the drivers name. So i identify him by his car. So be it. :roflpuke2: |

So guys...forum war?lololol
But on a serious note I really dig the cars and certainly wouldn't mind rolling with them. There seems to be this random hate that popped up out of no where. Im going to try and catch a few on the roads here and chat with um and see whats up. Get some good words spread around haha. |

I feel that BRZ/FR-S owners disregard the fact that all the journalists say the BRZ/FR-S are great within their price range/market. No journalist says it's a better car than a 458 Italia. And that's the (perceived) issue. BRZ/FR-S owners think they own THE car. Period. Obviously not everyone that drives a certain car is same. I maintain that I fall slightly short of douchey, even though I'm sure the dude in a Focus or some other commuter car thinks I am. I feel like BRZ/FR-S owners have just earned a stigma of being arrogant due to their "selective referencing" of journalist reviews to justify their confidence. As a Z owner I could harp all day on the advantages of my car and ignore the fact that at high RPM our engines sound like raccoons knife fighting each other, and say that my car is better than car X and car Y. That's part of car culture, I guess. Enthusiasts develop emotional connections to their car. Hell, my last car was a 2003 Maxima, and I swore that thing could spank an M3 (not seriously). I like the BRZ/FR-S for what they are. But I personally couldn't pull the trigger on buying one. As a sports car it doesn't have enough grunt for me, and as a commuter car it's too impractical. MotorTrend just did a comparison between the FR-S and the GTI, on their YouTube channel, and the FR-S guy begrudging had to agree that the GTI is actually a better all around car. |
I see a bunch of these, but not many kids owning them. Never have had anyone do a ricer flyby on me, in any car, surprisingly.
Yet. |
