$65/qt transmission fluid is not an over-rated concern. Things like that
are quite to point. Even DIY, spending 600-700 for a 18K service on your specialized tranny has very little precedence outside of the Ferrari world.

The GTR is a fantastic performance vehicle but it comes with way above average maintenance costs if you are *accustomed* to the lower maintenance costs of typical japanese cars vs. Euro counterparts.

A 50K GTR is still a GTR: it doesn't become less expensive to own, just to acquire :D I do like the lines of them, and the simple bolt on equation is tempting to the street racing crowd. Personally 300 HP is hard to use on the street, let alone 700 HP. As long as they drive safe I could care less what you drive as long as you enjoy it.

transmission fluid changes are 36K miles now if kept under 240 degrees. Most dont let it go that long but even still that $800 you are gonna spend is few and far between. I had it done once on my 09 in 2.5 years of ownership and with 6K miles on the 12 i doubt i will ever see it done before i move to a 15. even if you are keeping the car long term its not a yearly cost

Actual real world normal GTR maintenance in a typical calendar year includes 1-2 oil changes and maybe a set of front tires depending on how you drive thats it.

I just got 6 quarts of 0/40 mobil 1 from walmart for $40 then bought an unnecessary expensive NISMO oil filter for $20 and paid the local Q lube up the street $35 to change the oil as its so simple and much easier from them to do it with a drive over pit then take it to the dealer and wait an hour from them to have a open lift. I was all in at $95. you guys that use that optional ester oil or whatever nissan has available for the Z are spending probably that much

im not going to argue the point on tires. It eats the fronts. Mine are made 1000 times worse as I do a lot of autocross and sliding around a parking lot in a 3800 lb AWD car is the worst thing known to man for GTR tires

This is my 2nd set of fronts with 6K total miles on the car lol.

OP "Mannysrt8" Yes the car is epic! I spend about 1 hour a day on youtube watching videos. I will have a GTR! "USED" but a GTR none the less. It looks amazing, sounds amazing (just like the Z) But has Amazing performance too is where we draw the line. Lambo's,911's,R8's,599 GTO's and all that arent attainable so i really dont care about those car's because i most likley never have one unless i marry into a rich family or win something big!! The GTR is just to damn SEXY in my opinion!!

GTR's are hotness, even though it doesn't tickle my fancy. High performance Vettes (Z06 and ZR1) and GTR's are indeed the only way I'll realistically own a vehicle that can put down that sort of speed.

A Viper's feasble also when I do go for a GTR I will put a fat down payment down. Nothing more than $9,999 anything after the the IRS starts looking into your finances.

I put 12K down on my Z  the 370z is the first car i've brought on my own so... when i put down 12K with no credit history the bank took me serious

It's a good way to stay ahead of the depreciation curve, too.

I love the GTR. If you gave me one and I didn't have to spend 100K on it plus the operating costs, I'd drive it over any other car.

But, in my realistic world, I'd be better served spending that money on a fun, cheaper sports car, a practical car, and using what will still be left over for some fun experiences/trips or practical bills. :)

I love the GTR, but I would rather get the slower Carrera S. Maybe even a 360 Modena if the price is right.

The sales guy at the dealership wouldn't let me sit in the GTR and told me "The type of people that buy that car don't look at it first". I was helping a friend that was interested in an altima so I guess it was a little understandable.

I eventually decided I wanted a Z and have no regrets.

Dzel 04-20-2013 03:17 PM

I would of gotten pissed myself if he told me that.

Nailzs 04-20-2013 03:49 PM

I would have put my hand print on it, just because. :icon17:

a customer is a customer, regardless ......when a salesperson has that type of attitude with a paying customer whom JUST MIGHT come back later on down the road at some point and buy that GTR ..... I expect top notch sales experience whether im buying a GTR or an ultima. for you never know if they'll come back later and buy the upgrade. not to mention word gets around.

:iagree: Sales people should not shop with their own wallets for the customer. Back then I was shopping for a Z, then I started to take a peek on most of their cars, and when I got to the Z, I asked if I could test drive it. The first thing the sales guy ask is what car I am driving and if I had good credit. I responded "Toyota Corolla" (I was driving my sister's car at that time), and then he quickly stated "Oh... what's the most expensive thing you've ever bought?". I responded to him "my (sister's) Corolla" which he then stated "You'll want this immediately as soon as you test drive it, but it won't be a good idea since you have put a big down payment to be able to afford it." I got pissed, I left that dealership, called Costco the same day to find me a discounted Z, pointed me to a different dealership, chose a black one, signed the papers, they accidentally sold my black Z to someone else, ended up with a 40th. I was still pissed that the next day I visited the previous dealership, and with perfect timing, the same douche bag was there and asked me if I decided to walk away with their Z in which I pointed to him "No, I'm just checking if there's another Z in you're lot with red interior like MY 40th Z" with a huge grin on my face. :happydance:

Sorry, not a GT-R reply. Done venting. :icon17:

You can call me an arse or whatever but when I go eat or shopping I expect top notch service. For those few moments that I'm there and am ready to spend my hard earned money. Those people are my employees. I'm not only paying for the product but the experiance as well.
