Nissan Cube

I saw one on the way to work this morning, white. I have to say, it looks kind of neat.

The guy in the Cube seemed confused that me, driving a new Z, was slowing down to oggle over his Cube. It looks like it belongs in a Spongebob episode and I love it!!!

nogoodname 07-16-2009 10:21 AM

it's stackable also.....i dig legos

theDreamer 07-16-2009 10:27 AM

Still not sure what I think, saw one at the Texas Z party and pass one a few times on my way to work but still not really into this boxy car fad.

m4a1mustang 07-16-2009 10:44 AM

The thing is it's boxy but it's not. It's kind of cool. Better than a stupid Scion.

True, which is why I am still unsure of it. The Scion line is just wrong, a co-worker here has it and it just makes me want to throw up, but the Cube has a different angle on it, sort of.

One of my neighbors has a Scion with that crazy orange paint. I puke on it every day and it still looks the same. :roflpuke2:

Co-worker has a purple one, with some awful wheels, nothing like stretched tires or anything but they are just eh.

BanningZ 07-16-2009 07:15 PM

I've driven both. I like the Scion. Much bigger feeling on the inside compared to the Cube. Also they have almost the exact same interiors. The second gen xB is :barf:

FuszNissan 07-16-2009 07:25 PM

They aren't for everybody, but a neat little car. Nissan is trying to hit the 16-21 year olds. The funny thing is that the people buying them here, are the ones that bought the PT crusier when it first came out.

BanningZ 07-16-2009 07:39 PM

^that doesn't surprise me. People like Retro and unusual these days. The mileage doesn't hurt either. I've already seen a dozen or so Cubes driving, around. The one thing I have noticed is that it feels like it has a little more "go" than the stock 1st gen xB. Cute cars.

Hey FuszNissan any idea on realistic mpg numbers after the 10K mark? I realize they are pretty new, and the guy at the dealership I went to had no idea.

When we bought the xB it was getting 29 city/ 34 highway mpg. Now we're getting around 36 city/ 42 hwy mpg and we're at the 12K mark.

LOL! I hated the Cube the first time I saw it...but its really grown on me...to the point where i'm trying to get my GF to buy one! Same thing with her...hated it at first...then we took a demo out to the beach for a day and she likes it too. :driving: The interior is huge...the back seats fold down for plenty of storage room, and great gas milage...don't forget the price tag either!!!

nogoodname 07-16-2009 08:41 PM

i dont think i could drive a car that ppl would think is cute....lol

Scott@FontanaNissan 07-16-2009 09:14 PM

My GF thinks the 370z is cute too...:koolaidwall:

If I were to ever drive the cube, I'd make sure I put on dark tint so that I'm NOT recognizable from the outside :ugh:

bigaudiofanat 07-16-2009 09:26 PM

IMO there just copying off of everyone else, Honda Element and the Scion xB were the first.

I dunno about that:

The first generation of the Cube (designated Z10) was introduced in 1998.

The xB was one of two models in the lineup of Toyota's US-exclusive Scion division present at the brand's 2004 launch, the other being the xA, based on the Toyota ist.

The Honda Element is a compact crossover SUV based on a modified CR-V platform, manufactured in East Liberty, Ohio and marketed in the United States and Canada since 2003.

arcticreaver 07-17-2009 02:03 AM

personally, i don't think it looks good. the design is a bit whacky.

frost 07-17-2009 02:06 AM

I don't like em from the outside, but from what I have seen of the interior, kinda cool.

smurfblu13 07-17-2009 03:03 AM

WOW this statement is painful to even type, the cube is kinda cool. But if I had to take a vehicle of that type, for some reason unknown to me I actually kinda like the Kia Soul. Flame suit on :hello:

arcticreaver 07-17-2009 03:14 AM

kia soul's behind is so hideous. i hate the rear tail lights. ugliest design i've seen to date.

The Scion xB is a Toyota bB and the first concept was in 1996. It was modified and released in late 1999 to the Japanese public.

No worries. They are both Boxes from two of the biggest Japanese automakers that came out in roughly the same time.

Either way they're both toasters. :D
