Default Next Generation of NISMO Performance Announcement Coming 2/26

Quote:
YOKOHAMA, Japan - Nissan Motor Co. is planning a major announcement around future plans for performance when it opens a new factory for its NISMO motorsports and performance tuning arm on Tuesday morning, Feb. 26 near Yokohama (Monday evening, Feb. 25 in the U.S.).

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn will headline the announcement, which is expected to reveal a new direction for NISMO's core mission.

Well-known to motorsports and performance car enthusiasts and re-introduced at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this month, NISMO has nearly 30 years of motorsports expertise and proven tuning capabilities for road cars, and for its millions of global gaming and virtual fans NISMO products are about to become much more of a reality.

Nissan has invested in an entirely new facility for NISMO's operations, redeveloping a former production site to give it a new home with expanded technological capacity. The new site replaces NISMO's prior location in Omori, Japan, and includes a larger showroom for up to eight vehicles plus a retail outlet.

Nissan has already begun introducing NISMO-badged performance versions of its road car products.

The first Nissan road car to get the NISMO treatment, the JUKE NISMO, is already on sale in Europe and Japan and will be launched in the U.S. this Spring. The 370Z NISMO made its public debut at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show in February and will be on sale globally later in 2013.

NISMO is also expected to reveal more about its future motorsport activities at the event.

I hope that if it's anything like my 370Z Sport, they make it where it won't fall apart on the track. I have warped my rotors twice in less than 20K miles using only 1 set of tires, very little brake wear, and never been to a track. Power-steering groans bad, too.

NISSAN: Go learn from GM about how to build brakes, a suspension, and a drive-line. Please ignore their interiors.

Well the GTR has great Brakes, suspension and drive line so i think they know what they are doing... Nissan is just sleep at the wheel or lazy.

No, I haven't. Do you click on "Mature BBW" headers when you watch porn online? I wouldn't know. Never cared to look.

I dunno bout that. That cruze is corny, hate the impala, malibu ehhhh?

But that little sonic is impressive, I wouldn't buy one but the Volt is pretty kool. The camaro SS1LE is fvckin' nutzzzz... The Chevy Silverado as far as pickups go is pretty attractive, i guess? (IM really not into pick up's at all)

I think GM isn't cutting edge but they have SOME respectable vehicles.

Just came across this online:

Who knows if there is any truth behind this but I guess we'll know soon.

There's gonna be a Nismo Juke and Nismo Sentra. You will be able to connect with other Nismo owners all over the world, or at least in your area. It will be similar to a Gran Turismo with an online community where you can compete against others and there will be an online ranking system.

When i first bought my 11 Z (my second Z34) I had written Nissan corp a long letter about a lack of product support from Nismo products. I explained to them how a Nismo exhaust/intake/suspension is something that is not advertised, pushed advised or given as an aftermarket accessory through dealerships.
I told them there is way more aftermarket support from Ford and Dodge with Ford racing and Mopar. I explained that GM has no real performance division but still pushes companies like Hennessey etc right from the Dealership. I gave TRD as an example of a car company, that has pretty much destroyed it's racing heritage and builds sub-par sports cars still has respectable aftermarket support. And other examples.

I received a automated reply saying thank u blah blahblah. Nsmo improvements were the BIGGEST part of my letter. Nissan is going to have to make some corvette like sacrifices to make this next Z a hit. The Next gen Nismo can't be the automobile equivalent of a Boob-job.

I must say though, the 2014 nismo is gorgeous imho but our cars need more than appearance packages. I still think the 09-12 look is still as hot looking as it was in 09. The 13 refresh did nothing to improve the Z as a sports car and it's upsetting. Very upsetting. I really hope this New Nismo, isn't just a marketing scheme or JUST a research center. I hope we see some real performance upgrades and a huge increase in AFTERMARKET service from Nissan.

Historically, the Z has performed better than everything in its bracket upon introduction. In 2003, I dare say it was better than the GT, and with the 2005GT, the Revup 350's were still better, and in 2008, the 370Z stomped everything available in its range.

I think Nissan is going to need to break the 400bhp barrier this go 'round. In the last 10 years, their actions point to them doing it. We will see.

HP is more of an american issue than a JDM issue. If they can push V8 performance numbers on paper while providing a 4 banger like ride they will succeed more than by just reaching some magic hp number to appease the market. 370hp on a 2800lb car would probably feel like more than 415hp on a 3200lb car.
That said, the real goal should be, 12.5 second quarters, staying above 1g, improving torque response and building a lightweight platform with grippy tires and wide wheel width... Which hp number does it? That's a secondary issue.

Although "wide" is not a great thing for road going cars overseas as when I was in Japan the lanes and roads are a little on the narrow side.
