Default John Krafcik confirms either V8 or TTV6?

Hyundai's CEO finally ended the rumor and confirmed the next generation Gencoupe WILL either see one out of these two power-plants. Exciting news coming from hyundai. I just hope they can solve the chronic Transmission issues that comes with these cars. None the least, with this news. Hyundai is pushing into a much more competitive segment.

Exciting news.

Yeah, I hope this news kills Nissan rumours or intentions of the Z being a BRZ/FR-S competitor in the future...

Ehh!! Hyundai is a Hyundai, and it will most certainly be at least 40k+ and I won't be paying that much for a Hyundai. So many better cars 40k+

How do you know what will be better or worse in 2015/2016? How many TTv6's do you see in the $40k range? If it's a V8? It will probably be in the $36k range...
Right now, hyundai's only "Real Sports Car Problem" is that they have to improve transmission performance/reliabily, needs more chassis rigidity (though more rigid than the E46) and add a little more quality to the suspension.

1. Up until 1988. Nissan was a shyt car and the Z was a cult car. Not a widespread legend in the american community.
2. Honda didn't get their first legs of respect till 1984/1985
3. Mazda 1987
3. Toyota 1982

Hyundai first set foot in the U.S. in 1985. Most of these other cars had been in the U.S. since the late 50's/60's depending on company. It took up to 30 years to earn there respect stripes.
Hyundai has been winning awards over the last 5 years consistently. Gencoupe is a first attempt sports car and they're about 3 improvement areas away from being an equal competitor...
It's still a hyundai? lol. So what's a Nissan??? It's no porsche no matter how close the stats are or were... If you don't like Hyundai as a car company. KEWL, more power to you. But at least come with a Constructive/Factual reason over the "Status quo- wanna-be classist remark of it's still a hyundai" While driving a sub-premium nissan.

VERY exciting news! Really hope this makes competitors (cough nissan cough) step up their game. Especially if hyundai can deliver at a reasonable price point.

It won't, Nissan sees the success of the BRZ/FRS and want in on that market.
It is a larger market than the current Z, more buyers at that price point.

Now this could easily mean that Nissan will have 3 levels, cheap RWD, Z level and GT-R.
Especially with he GT-R being 100k, the Z could see a price bump to the 40-50k and more power without moving into GT-R territory and a cheap RWD at 20-30k.

Didn't Nissan mention something about reducing the size of Z's engine and adding F/I? It's gonna be a shame if that happens

Thank you. So many ignorant idiots out there that still look at Hyundai as some crap-car, while forgetting that their own cars were in that same boat not long ago. I've owned 3 Hyundais before I owned my 3 Z's, and would certainly own another Hyundai if they make a car appealing to me.

And that's what i'm hoping. They have 3 levels and they don't downgrade the Z. The stupidest rumor I heard about Nissan BRZ fighter is that it will either be FWD or the Z will be downgraded to compete in the BRZ market. Both those rumors are unacceptable options.

When I read those articles what I am seeing is the author writing his own opinion on the next gen Z and then assumes that this new car is the next Z. When really Nissan is just saying they are working/finishing a new lightweight performance car.

Read this article last summer. My understanding is that Nissan is working on a new sports cars - a "miniZ" to go down market against the BRZ.

Nissan Working on Mini-Z to target FR-S/BRZ - Motor Trend

I have also read that the actual successor to the current Z will focus on losing weight rather than gaining power to achieve better performance numbers.
