2013 Chevy Camaro SS 1LE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=vYiFiWn38jw
This car made me re-fall in love with the camaro. Mild weight reduction. (Not enough to notice.) Widened tires, lighter wheels, aggressive exhaust, RED Brembo's, Upgraded suspension. No power mods, yet this car is getting almost half a second increase in overall acceleration times. It shows that with just a few modifications, this camaro is a force to be reckoned with. Imagine breathing mods, a tune and an extra 200lb weight reduction???:excited: I know there aren't a lot of camaro fans on the Z forum and the mustang is the muscle car of choice here... But imho, there's something special about the Camaro, and this vid definitely exposes it. :driving: 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE: Best Handling Camaro Ever! - Ignition Episode 48 - YouTube If this 1LE is an indication of possible improved performance in the next generation? I might have to return to GM??? |
It looks to be a rather impressive setup

Having rented this car often, I know all the complaints they mention, that the 1LE supposedly fixes. The reasons why i never purchased the camaro was because of every fault that needed correcting on here. The feeling heavy part was a minus, but not a deal breaker... This 1LE has me in deep thought. Think I want to test drive

Its definitely one of the best 'bang for your buck' factory track cars
|
Chevy discusses which way to go. They're confused but at least they are striving for a second success.

With that LS7 rumor making it into the Camaro, its hard not to get excited with what they've done to keep it fresh. The 1LE is mighty impressive, it is more than the sum of it's parts. That and the ZL1 have shown that it has a world class bones, just needed some engineering love.

I've actually been tempted lately to trade my Nismo in for the 1LE. The major thing stopping me is my girlfriend already owns a 2010 Camaro 2SS 6-speed and the fact that as impressive as the 1LE is it's still heavy. Still though, in some ways it drives better than the Z. On the track I would take my Z in a heart beat but for daily driving/ripping it up on the weekends the Camaro is so much better. Easier to control and much better composed. Not to mention the torque is amazingly addictive. For now I'm just holding out. I figure I'll wait this year and see what the C7 Vette ends up like, the new STI, and what Nissan plans to do for the next Z.

My main gripe with the Camaro when i first started renting them was, outward visibility was severely compromised and the car was extremely wide, There was an unusual amount of understeer for an RWD. So if i tried to take 90 degree turns at high speeds on tight streets? The negatives of this car didnt inspire confidence. I wasn't sure of myself taking corners. Right now in my Z, I can pull a turn in this car at seriously high speeds. Breaking the 90 is probably the most important thing I can do in a sports car, imho. Most people cant do it the way it should be done.
Because of this. I can leave cars in the dust that are trying to get competitive. I take the turn and once the other car finishes the turn, I'm a block away. also helps when police want to contemplate pulling you over but aren't making a good effort to get you. I can disappear in a turn and evade a ticket before the chase begins... lol I had no success of this in my first few rental-runs in a camaro 2ss. Now things have changed. I've rented this car enough that I have become more confident in driving it. I can sweep my 90's better in them. Not Z good, but pretty good for this cars size. Now that the 1LE conquers the understeer issue and adds seriously more grip... I would love to throw the 1LE into a 90 and see what speed i can maintain. I don't know if i can give up my Z? But if it can do what i want it to do? My Z will be paid off by years end... I may go v8 and add to the stable???? |
1LE is nice! The next gen should be interesting too as its using the much smaller and lighter ATS platform.

Looks awesome... one thing I just can't get past... why in the hell is Chevy designing an interior that looks like it came out of a 1973 Nova? Do we really need giant AC vents at eye level and a nav system you have to look down to see?

I guess it is a good thing you can fit two golf bags in the trunk, then;) http://lh3.ggpht.com/_xXwPrxQbK18/S-...lf%20Clubs.JPG |

I respect the performance of the Camaros, and I even like the exterior design, but the interior let me down, and the visibility is horrible in that car. imo worse than the Z. But outside of that, I am well impressed by the performance and style.

Do you think you really could give up one of the best/sexiest cars from Japan for an American muscle car. ? ? . There is something special about a large V8 engine with lots of power . . haha |
