I know I will just be told I'm making crap up and I will be demanded to show proof but its been so long ago its hard to find but the 370 in this test was abused heavily for every mile on its clock. Its the same 370Z they achieved a pathetic 0-60 time of around 5.5 seconds and a 1/4 mile in the high 13's. In the same article they even mention it felt wrong the car. So I know I will be blasted by some people but this is the reason this car ran such a garbage lap.

How far from the 3:12.5 of the 350z you think the 370z could have been?

1 second quicker ?

Yea, pretty sure they ran into a couple of the well known track day issues the 370 is known for. Overheating and brake fade, which resulted in them wrecking the car and not being able to record as many decent laps.

Approximately. The improved power to weight dictates as such, it suggests that the driver didn't have confidence with the vehicle. Same reason the 458 beat the ZR1, the driver connected with the 458 and had no issue attacking corners with it, the ZR1 while very capable, feels completely different. They may not be getting enough seat time to come to terms with the vehicle.

They do use multiple drivers, but they are all amateurs, for it to be really fair they would have to borrow the Stig for a few days.

The touring pkg pricing is a joke. The nav is laughable to hysteria... The nismo. A lot of good parts but not worth the extra weight. There's other ways to conquer rigidity without adding so much weight.

I Think there's better cars to buy if you're interested in the Z's touring pkg. I can tell you coming from a G. The G37s offers so much more for not too much more money if you're interested in refinement.

The 1series @ $46k gives a nice interior, better than the touring, with Z like performance. I just don't like Bimmer seats.

A corvette GS with rebate. Mustang Boss 302 and 2SS1LE come to mind when thinking of bang for buck in the 40k-50k range.

But $35,000. Base + sport cant be beat as an overall pkg... in spite of.

Yeah this time around I just got the Base + Sport. First thing I did was swap the HU out for a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS. I have some Polk speakers on hand but with just the HU swap the stock speakers aren't bad at all. I will still swap them out when I get a chance.

Nav... I have my phone and a Garmin with lifetime map updates.

I know exactly what you're referring to. The diff in the car was completely open from what I remember?

After a couple corners the diff goes that way anyways.

The real shame should be on Nissan, though. If they had given the Nismo proper brakes and an oil cooler (it is supposed to be the "track" model right?) it would have been able to make laps without issue.

Maybe but edmunds had a different take...........

"Handling Comments: (Slalom) Added stiffness makes Nismo harder to handle in our slalom which isn't very smooth. I'm confident this car is quicker on a racetrack, but the sharp bump at cone 3 makes it a challenge here. Same speed as the normal car, but a lot more work to get there. (Skid pad) Communication is good, but overall this doesn't seem like a great street setup, and grip is inexplicably less than the standard Z"
