The car most enthusiasts still sleep on
Yeah but it's a hyundai??? No longer a good argument. Quality has surpassed honda and toyota. In many ways hyundai now rivals Nissan/Infiniti up to a certain point.
While the hyundai genesis coupe has not been able to break out of the value stigma with it's genesis coupe. It has come a long way since 2010. It's 3.8ltr 348hp launches the 3.8 gen coupe in 5.0 seconds from a rollout to 60. and 5.4 from a straight zero. It doesn't beat the Z accel 4.6/5.1 stats but ties the G37, it's true competitor. Is now lighter, more nimble and had 85% of most G features. It did damage and made the infiniti vehicle less important over the last 2 years. Hyundai Sports Sedan Coming in 2015 to Rival 3 Series | AutoGuide.com News Now Hyundai Genesis coupe is looking to attack the 335i in performance. The 2014 Genesis Sedan is to have AWD model. If this AWD system is added to other models like the gencoupe and veloster??? The hyundai will definiely invade areas that other car companies are sort of neglecting. From my test drives of the hyundai gencoupe and sedan, There main flaw is shytty transmissions that cant epitomize the performance of high potential engines. The second thing. Though they handle well and feel good on the road. There's a crudeness under high speed turning that the hyundai truly lacks in responsiveness the G can bring. That said, the Gencoupe can still pull out equal or better track times with the right driver. Fixing the gens flaws would truly send the genesis coupe to another level putting the current G coupe, now deeper in the weird "Why do I cost so much?" status that it's currently in now.. They beat infiniti in the price/performance game. Though that beat is marginal, its a win regardless... Now they have decided to attack the competitor that @ one time, infiniti was the aggressor to BMW. Will the Infiniti climb to new heights in 2014 and surpass even BMW? Or will Hyundai come in like a thief in the night and completely invalidate the G coupe (Next gen Infiniti will be Q coupe) by bypassing Infiniti and defeating BMW? Hyundai always finds a way to kinda kill a good thing by going on the cheap in the very end? Will this trend end with the next gencoupe? I have a feeling, hyundai will step up hardcore. Let's see what happens? Report: Hyundai |

I dunno 6MT.... my wife's new Veloster Turbo has all the makings of a fine automobile at a fraction of the competitors prices.... I have to say that the competition will have to watch out for Hyundai more than ever!

I have been in the Genesis and I really hate the interior compared to most other sports cars. Other than that, the numbers are impressive as well as the potential.

Fix the transmission and the win won't be close anymore. It will be a landslide victory on hyundai's part. Infiniti only wins in more responsive transmissions and luxury/interior. |

not sold on the idea of the Gen being an Infiniti killer.... the refinement is WAYYYYY to far off for me in that area. My friend has gone thru 4 transmissions on his 3.8 coupe as well.....

Mag numbers are garbage. Winning on paper doesn't mean a win in feel....otherwise cars like the s2000 would have never sold. |

in my opinion its the transmission, the manual transmission feels slushy, gear changes dont feel right and their new 8AT just has to many gears, its always shifting up and down to maintain power

The cars they make might be quick as hell, but everyone I know with a Hyndai has had more issues than I have had with any Toyota I have ever had...
The build quality is still **** and even though they come with a 10 year warranty, it seems as if they don't like to replace parts So god bless them for making fast cars. But don't lie to me and tell me their quality has surpassed Honda or Toyota... |

My fiance has a 2010 Gen Coupe 3.8 for almost 2 years now and we havent had any problems out of it. She has daily driven it since she owned it. Granted she probably doesnt drive it hard, but its held up fairly well. I will admit that the interior quality is sub par, and it could use some refining compared to the Z, but its a damn good job for Hyundai's first attempt at the RWD sports car. Especially since we got the R-Spec model for a little north of 25k. Not to mention I have received way more attention driving her car than either my 350z or 370z.

I wouldn't say it's being overlooked in SoCal but maybe in other parts of the country.
I have known a few people with them and they had nothing but good things to say about them. You have to admit a Turbo 4-cylinder with Brembos in their Track-spec is a good value even if you don't respect the brand. |

I think it's a good value for sure, but I don't think the build quality, fit, finish, etc. can compete with the likes of Infiniti/BMW. Also the Infiniti is much more of a luxury car than the gen coupe.
No way it will ever be competitive with the 3 series because a lot of people buy 3 series for the BMW badge. It may sell well, but it certainly won't hurt BMW's sales. I think the real competitor for the 3 series is the Cadillac ATS. |
