It doesn't matter if nothing was here. They still engineered these. They had the Silvia, Silvia R, pulsar Gti R, gtr, 300zx, and other cars, i think they know wtf they are doing when it comes to sports cars. Hyundai though has a gen coupe with 348 Hp oh damn!!!! |

I rarely see genesis coupes around. I did for a while in 2008. I had a few friends that said they were the best since baked beans and could eat my Saturn Sky for lunch. Most ate crow and sold the within the year. Now it has been almost a year since I have seen a genesis coupe in traffic and I live in Houston. I see way more Z's than I see hyundai cars.
Heck even my dad bought new hyundai in 2011 and within six months he was driving a new Nissan Altima. He said hyundai was crap. |

The Gen Coupe may not be at the top of the list, but like I said before, Hyundai is stepping up and definitely did a good job at their first sports car entry. The interior is cheap because the 3.8 r spec is priced a good 4k under the base 370z. Sure they need some more refining, it's rare that someone gets it perfect the first time.
To be fair, at the "spend my thousands wisely" statement, I have had issues with the steering lock and CSC on the Z with 28k miles. The Genesis has been problem free for me for 30k miles. Don't take that the wrong way, I love my Z to death! The Z is still the better car, but the Z is far from perfect as well. If the Genesis Coupe, sitting as is, had another company's badge on it, it would receive more praise than it does. But because its a Hyundai, it still has a negative stigma that people refuse to get over.

I mean look how much Ford improved their quality in the last like 2-3 years. I know they were an already established brand, but they improved the quality of their cars greatly in the past couple years.

Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec: MSRP $28750 348hp/295tq 19 inch alloy wheels Torsen LSD Brembo Brakes 370Z base with sport: MSRP $36150 336hp/260tq 19 inch Rays (Awesome) LSD Akebono's Synchro rev Thats a little over 7k difference if you compare apples to apples. There is a reason why the wheels arent forged, and the interior isnt quite as nice. As far as the actual performance of the cars, the 370z has almost 40 years of experience behind its engineering. The Genesis is Hyundais first real sports car, they have some bugs to work out. The 370z really isnt a competitor anyhow, just using it as comparison. Hyundai is in the process of proving themselves atm imo.

370z not even the Nismo. Best comparison to the Gensis coupe.
The car's performance potential was further confirmed at the track, with the Z posting a more than respectable 4.8-second 0-60 mph time, and completing the quarter-mile in 13.4 seconds at 105.6 mph. That's faster than the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 we recently tested, which posted a 5.2-second 0-60 and a 13.9-second quarter-mile at 102.2 mph. The Nissan required 106 feet to brake from 60-0 mph, and averaged an impressive 0.99 g in lateral acceleration, beating out the heavier, track pack-equipped 2013 Mustang V-6 Premium's 60-0 stopping performance of 110 feet and a skidpad average of 0.95 g. With its figure-eight result of 25.1 seconds at an average 0.74 g, the Z proved it's still an agile handler. Read more: 2012 Nissan 370Z First Drive - Motor Trend |

You guys keep restating what I'm saying They are the new kids on the block, it takes time to sway people's mind. Doesn't happen over night, all my posts have been trying to convey this yet you don't understand. Nissan has history, subaru has history, honda has history, mitsubishi has history, Toyota has history, ford and Chevy has history, is that **** hard to understand?? Feel free to hop on board, cause I won't any time soon lol Last edited by FairladyZ; 12-29-2012 at 01:59 PM. |
