I agree with this most. There is some mild chassis slop compared to the infiniti but the percentage is low. The overall value to performance is high and the luxury factor is a small point from the enthusiast standpoint.

The Real point of the thread though is that, Hyundai has set its goals pretty high. I think, performance wise it has proven you don't need to spend 47k for good performance.
I think the next gen will show more than just a great "budget sports car" I think we'll see a real competitor.

Mag numbers are garbage. Winning on paper doesn't mean a win in feel....otherwise cars like the s2000 would have never sold.

Man, I hope Honda comes out with an S2000 again.

I think the Gen coupe vs G37 coupe comparison sort of parallels that of the Z vs Cayman. The Z can give you most of the performance for half the price, but the Cayman is more refined and better engineered.

I think it's a good value for sure, but I don't think the build quality, fit, finish, etc. can compete with the likes of Infiniti/BMW. Also the Infiniti is much more of a luxury car than the gen coupe.

No way it will ever be competitive with the 3 series because a lot of people buy 3 series for the BMW badge. It may sell well, but it certainly won't hurt BMW's sales. I think the real competitor for the 3 series is the Cadillac ATS.

Yeah I would agree that they have a long way to go before they can compete with BMW or Infiniti but it's a start.

Infiniti 10 years ago was still well behind the rest of the marquee brands and look how much progress they have made since that time

I don't. Because they'll royally f*ck it up.

What they really need IMO is a new brand image. They need to come out with their own high end/luxury brand to separate those cars from the Hyundai name. Just like Nissan has Infiniti, Honda has Acura, and Toyota has Lexus. That's the only way people will stop looking at them as "Hyundais". They're already trying to hide the fact that all their higher end cars are Hyundais. None of them have a Hyundai badge.

This is so true.

What makes you say that? I like the current Honda CEO. I'm all for finding green solutions, but the last CEO went too far killing off anything related to being sporty. The current CEO is trying to bring the fun back with NSX, F1, Type Rs, etc.

I'll believe it when I see it. I have no faith in Honda to build anything worth driving any time soon.

It is true. The BRZ isn't a numbers car.

Hell, no car should be a numbers car. Drive a car because you enjoy driving it... not because it puts down numbers.
