My thing is what GTR that hasn't been beat up on. Most people beat up on them then traded in for newer models. But the car can take a lot.

09's are fine especially if you buy one sold after January 2009 all of those got the LC update before they left the dealer lot. just have a dealer do an inspection and have them check for VDC OFF STALL STARTS that will tell you the # of LCs with VDC off. i wouldnt buy one that still has the original LC with VDC off launches
personally and this is contraversial but i also wouldnt buy a GTR with any sort of tune but thats just me. 99% of them are gonna be just fine but the more enthusiast oriented owner would have it tuned and more likely to drive it hard. There are a bunch of 20K or under cars out there that probably arent too beat on. but if im saving up and putting up 60K + i want a GTR driven by some doctor as a weekend car. Steering Lock got a nationwide recall and a new part was replaced so shouldnt be an issue if the owner had it done 10's are almost identical to 9's and dont cost but maybe 3K(ish) or so more than a used 9. that might be an option aswell... a little better piece of mind on the tranny i wouldnt get a 2011 as they are mechanically very similar to the two previous years except for a better NAV and suspension.. but they had 2 years of price increase and if you are looking for best bang for the buck you arnt getting too much more for a car thats still somewhere in the low 70's maintenance is a big myth.. besides eating through tires its not much more to maintain than your Z. $100 oil changes every 6K miles isnt a big deal and the tranny/diff changes are suggested at 18K miles and now 36K miles so if you are buying used hopefully this will have recently be done brakes last a good bit unless you are a track junkie ive never had to even change pads on my either of mine and i average 10 Autox a year with a couple track days with maybe 5-6K a year mileage tires are hard to get past.. with no tracking the summers will last 7-8K transmission replacements are now more like 12K not 20K and that is seldom needed. unless you are tuned or are doing doughnuts with VDC off nissan will probably warranty it.. and if not a lot of skilled GTR shops to rebuilds for 3K.. so worst case its not the end of the world Last edited by MC; 12-20-2012 at 11:05 PM. |

forgot this one. no that is a myth based on a little bit of fact.. in japan there are refresh kits but they only include things like suspension components some interior accents and other minor things like that. whatever HP level or LC version your GTR comes with atleast from nissan you are stuck with.. of course there is a HUGE aftermarket for that type of need |
