370zforme!!'s 2012 STi Build Journal
Hey guys! After numerous requests for a member journal of my Sti I have decided to get off my *** and make one. I purchased my Sti on 12/31/2011. Can you say end of the year sales? Woot! If you want to get hooked up, go see Desi @ Irvine Subaru! I got mine OTD for $35490!
I came from a 2010 Nissan 370z that was heavily modded, but needed something more practical. 2012 NISSAN 370Z COUPE Album: Zues Photos by mmaislife | Photobucket 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA STi Non limited Here she is on the lot when I picked her up! 12/31/2011: 02/01/2012: 1000 miles!!! Yeeeeeee! 03/16/2012: 1602 miles. New wheels! New Exhaust! Enkei Raijin 18x9.5 +35 wrapped in oem rubber. Stock height. Exotic Speed R1-Titan Ti tipped Soundclip: 03/23/2012: 1602 miles: Defi boost gauge installed! 03/29/2012: 1622 miles: Cobb AP Woot!! 04/15/2012: Some goodies arrived! FA Auto 500 coilovers with swift springs Cusco Rear LCA Trex CF steering wheel. 05/02/2012: First oil change. 2891 miles. 05/18/2012: Also purchased an AEM intake, but lost all low end torque so I switched to the Cobb SF intake box. Car drives like a beast again. 05/21/2012: 3200 miles. Coilover install/corner balance/alignment at Westend Alignment! I love this place! 05/22/2012: Bayson R CS type front lip: 05/23/2012: Photos of everything up to this point installed. 05/24/2012: Hawk HPS front and rear pads. 05/29/2012: Whiteline front and rear sways 22 mm and kartboy front and rear endlinks. 06/05/2012: 3200 miles. SMY gauge cluster/AEM UEGO wideband AFR Gauge/Defi Boost gauge & WC Lathe werks Blue Bronze shift knob/Si Dial/Reverse LO ring. 06/06/2012: Got sick of the tameness of the Exoticspeed and decided I want to go stage 2. Exoticspeed cleaned and ready for new owner. So I ordered an Invidia catless Dp and N1 Race. Off to Cobb Tuning Socal I go! 06/07/2012: Some ******* scratched my ****! Good thing im a whiz with a polisher. Managed to buff it out. 06/12/2012: The N1 race was way too loud for my taste and I kind of missed the quad tip look so I switched to an MXP. The MXP ended up being almost as quiet as stock, so it didnt stay on the car longer than 3 days. Switched back to an Invidia N1 street lol. I hate being fickle lol. 06/20/2012: I was asked by Cobb Tuning Socal to represent them at Subaru Summer Solstice 3 in front of their booth. I was very flattered! 06/23/2012: Time to polish the whole car! 06/29/2012: Had problems with the FA 500 coilovers, so FA sent out a replacement set of 510 gen4's out at no cost, and they refunded my $450 for install/alignment/corner balance that I had to pay again due to problems with the 500's. New 510's:

07/06/2012: Picked up some really nice Evo X recaros from someone on socal subies. Great condition leather and alcantra.
I got ballsy and dyed the stitching red to match the interior. Then I had to modify the brackets/sliders. I easily put 30 hours labor into these seats. Occupant detection bladder and module installed: Finally in the car! 07/06/2012: Bunch of new parts arrived. 1. Cobb adjustable ss 2. Cobb front and rear shifter bushings 3. Bayson R CF side skirts 4. Blacktop Aero VR CF front lip, 5. Enkei Rpf1 wheels in SBC 18x10 +38 offset 6. Bridgestone Potenza Re-11 Tires 265/35/18 . Fenders rolled by AWD Albert. Anyone in the socal area needing fenders rolled should call hi. 08/08/2012: Protune @ Cobb Tuning Socal Put down 314 HP and 326 TQ. Very happy with the results and the car drives totally different now. Power is way more usable and boost comes in early and strong. I love that "roller-coaster" effect of being thrown back in your seat. 08/10/2012: Switched out the tranny and engine oil to all Motul. This engine loves this stuff.

10/01/2012: ARK DTS installed. I really liked how this exhaust looked, but I had numerous fitment issues, and the exhaust didnt sound all that great imo, but then again, I have a new exhaust every month
I loved the look, but the fitment issues and lack of throatiness and balls deterred me from keeping it. 10/06/2012: I have been working on a few projects, but this is kind of my jewel. Iphone 5 docking station for the shifter trim. Here in the link to the original thread I created: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gr-inter...sti-sedan.html 10/21/2012: Enter Recaro Sportster CS Full Leather! WHHHHHHHHHEEEWWWWW! I have wanted these seats for a longggg time. I finally found some decent used ones from OCBUCKEYE and I picked them up. These are lovely that is all.

Can you say Helicopter? 11/27/2012: Too loud, ordered a 4" muffled axleback from nameless I cant help myself. 11/19/2012: Ok I really cant help myself. Came up on some fundage so I placed an order for RCE Tarmac T2 coilovers with Volrshlag camber plates and rear mounts. Cant wait for them to get here! 11/23/2012: R206 fender badges and JPM coachworks alcantra stitched shift boot and ebrake boot. Pics coming...

Great build so far! Those are some legit parts and wow, you work fast... reminds me of my Evo X when I first got it. I was on a Cobb stage 2 map after a few thousand miles. What happened with the FA 500 and 510's? I'm about to install 500's with Swifts on my Z...

Thanks man! The 500s had some spring binding issues and roller bearings that were shot. Also the dampening knobs hardly worked and the brake brackets had to be modified to fit. Although they were the generation 3 500s. The generation 4 510s have been wonderful, but after speaking to several legitimate sources, I'm convinced the RCEs are the route to go. I like that they are kw shocks, and come with helper springs. It doesn't suck that they have the best reviews out of any coilover in regards to performance and comfort.

Hey 370zforme,
That's a really beautiful Subaru you have. I like all the mods you've done- but nothing that ruins the look or function of the stock STI It does seem like you can't decide on an exhaust for the car. . . Does Meisterschaft make an exhaust for Subarus ? . |

Hey 370zForme, how much boost are you running/what OTS/protune map are you using? I am currently running Cobb's OTS HighWastegate stage 2 on my 2011 STI Sedan. I have a cobb DP and SPT exhaust but I have the stock mid-pipe so I figured it's a little more restrictive, hence the HWG. I still peak at about 19-19.5psi in 4th, (I log every so often, everything is coming up fine).
Just curious to what kind of boost goals you have. |

Haha ya, I have some local sponsors, nothing big, but it helps. I also have a problem. I think I will probably build the engine eventually, but right now I dont plan to do anything else engine wise.

Haha ya the car was dirty in those pics. Had just rolled my fenders and installed wheels and tires so those were kinda just stance pics. Updated photoshoot coming soon.
