My new 911 Carrera S (pic heavy)
Guys, I have been waiting so long to make this post. My 911 has arrived!!!
Click on the pics to enlarge them! It all started when I saw this video: Testing the 2012 Porsche Carrera 911 - YouTube I then started obsessing over it, determined to buy one once they released. I test drove the base model, and greatly enjoyed it, but I knew down the road I would have wished I got the S model. A quick test drive later and I was certain that the S was for me. I also considered waiting until the new Cayman came out, but decided that nothing beats a 911. I'm going to be keeping this car most likely forever (I really do mean that), so having a timeless design further persuaded me to forget about the Cayman. Now of course I would prefer a GTS (which will not be coming out anytime soon) or a GT3 (should come out decently soon, but I think I can settle with the S . I continuously checked dealerships across the US to see if they had the configuration I wanted, but they did not. After some time I became impatient with waiting and pulled the trigger on custom ordering one. I will be doing this from now on when it comes to cars, because there is almost no difference in negotiation room compared to the same year model on the lot. Deciding between the 7MT (which has a system extremely similar to the SRM on our cars) and the PDK was at first hard for me, but after getting behind the wheel of the new PDK system in these cars, oh my. It was perfect, and so I chose to go for the PDK. The major options on the car are: Dark Blue Metallic Platinum finish Carrera S wheels (looks so amazing IMO) Two tone full leather interior (black / platinum) Sport Chrono Package Premium Package Plus Bose Driving impressions: This car is like a knife. It is so precise on turn in and really makes you feel comfortable to feather the throttle through the apex. I cannot sense any over or understeer. It is sooo refined with such a nice interior. No NVH, smooth ride, great gas mileage, and it feels so light! I'm still breaking it in, but putting it on Sport mode and activating the sound symposer sounds amazing even under 4K RPMs. Its freaky how the car transforms from being smooth and frugal at the pumps, to a ready to go track car at the touch of a few buttons. I have since done a 1.09 lateral G turn on the streets, and it felt like I could have gone SO much faster (I'll save that for a track). The lights that turn as you turn are also very nice when going through winding roads. Down the road I will be looking into an exhaust system to liven up the car even more (not that it needs it..). But as of now I am so happy and satisfied that I cannot even complain about a SINGLE thing on the car. It really is just perfect. For now I will be keeping my 370Z, as I need 2 cars (as I currently have travel back and forth from NM to CA very often). I will however be selling it before I pay the residual value on the car (currently leasing it for tax reasons). Oh and an important note: Lease payments vary from dealership to dealership. The difference between total price paid after 36 months plus residual value between a Hoehn Porsche of San Diego and Beverly Hills Porsche was about $7K!! I can go on and on about impressions on the car, if you guys want to know anything in particular, please just ask! Here are some pics that the dealer sent me when the car arrived, and some pics I took myself. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8232603181/" title="Untitled by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8208/8232603181_ae882f07e1.jpg" width="500" height="331" alt="Untitled"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8232602301/" title="P1010201 by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8060/8232602301_fe50bd7a3c.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="P1010201"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8233669188/" title="P1010198 by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8477/8233669188_af0a480dd2.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="P1010198"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8232607367/" title="P1010191 by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8201/8232607367_b5301f5181.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="P1010191"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8233671820/" title="1 (12) by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8206/8233671820_68580b3d02.jpg" width="500" height="374" alt="1 (12)"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8232608649/" title="1 (1) by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8480/8232608649_346dfca073.jpg" width="500" height="374" alt="1 (1)"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8232609331/" title="1 (11) by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8060/8232609331_d327eae4ae.jpg" width="500" height="374" alt="1 (11)"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8233673924/" title="1 (10) by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8058/8233673924_09bef38082.jpg" width="500" height="374" alt="1 (10)"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8232610851/" title="1 (6) by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8063/8232610851_01d623574d.jpg" width="500" height="374" alt="1 (6)"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8233676542/" title="P1010205 by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8480/8233676542_b3e0a1e277.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="P1010205"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90710192@N08/8232614655/" title="P1010204 by Rosh Dawg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8340/8232614655_37958a0085.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="P1010204"></a> |
wow gorgeous car, congrats!

Congrats on the new ride! I've really fell in love with the new refresh on the 911. Great color choice as well, that distinct and classic Porsche blue. I drove a Porsche Panamera Turbo with the PDK system and it is blisteringly quick with the shifts and also when you trigger that sport button it really does make a world of a difference. Enjoy it in good health mate!!

Sick! Congrats and enjoy.

Congrats!. Can you keep the spoiler up? With it down it doesnt look as raw as it does up. The new cayman R hints a being very promising and a good challenger for the 911 non-turbo's.
