2017 rx-7?

Just thought I'd share....

That would be nice to see.

slippery4678 11-02-2012 04:42 PM

Agreed....another car to push the Z's progress and possibly a Supra successor would be awesome

N/A rotary making 300hp in a car weighing about what the FR-S/BRZ weighs is pretty cool, but it's also potentially problematic for a US vehicle. How many of you guys have had an RX-8? How'd the fuel economy work out for you? The spokesman was quick to point out that the new catalyst would help meet current/future Euro regs, but where Europe focuses on emissions, US policies are ramping up to focus primarily on mpg. Soooo, open-ended question... will Mazda offer the RX for US consumption, knowing the rest of its lineup will have to pick up the slack?

2017 is too far away to consider what's coming out.

Agreed.... Just a little dreaming... They could just start making the last rx-7 again, I'd trade in for that.

With a variety of diesel engine options coming from Mazda soon, I don't think the fleet average MPG will be a problem. Even disregarding that, Mazda knows any new rotary engine has to be drastically better then the RX-8 in the MPG department anyway.

It's the supposed price tag they are talking about that worries me. I don't think people in the US will pay a premium price for a Mazda, especially when you look at the bang for the buck you get with cars like the Mustang.

By 2017 I'll be happy to be able to afford a new vehicle/care about one, the way the economy is going :(

295 hp RX-7 sounds nice.

Looks like all the sports cars will be converging towards 3K lbs or less and ~300 at the crank.

My current Z will be paid off just in tme for that, so works for me :)
