2015 hyundai genesis concept

With styling cues now being copied from the Audi S- series and R8, from what it looks to me. The gen-sedan concept no longer looks like a dull copy of both Mercedes and Lexus sedans. I would call that a good thing to a point, but the bad part is some of the design cues are way too direct to the Audi in the concept... Body lines do look very clean and high end though... If the production model can take these cues without looking like a blatant Audi ripoff? This may be the next sub $50k gotta have it sedan???
We'll have to see as this concept evolves...

The question that strikes me now is... What sports car will the next gen... gen-coupe be a clone of? The S5 audi???

I was watching a car show (don't remember which, Motor Week or Fifth Gear), and they mentioned the fact that Kias these days look great because they hired a lead designer away from Audi. Kia and Hyundai are sister companies. So, with all that in mind, it doesn't surprise me in the least that the designs are beginning to run together.

Correct. Kia is a subsidiary of HMC and they share most chassis' and engines. I think the only chassis exclusive to Hyundai is the one on the gen-coupe and sedan. The only engine exclusive to Hyundai is the Tau v8 series. Everything else is shared with Kia... if not mistaken.

I'm not really a fan of the looks and I can't really put my finger on why. Something about those headlights not going with that grill, just seems all wrong.

That said, I'm glad they are making the design a bit more bold. To many boring cars in the world, need to spice things up.

Keep in mind this is just a concept. Not the car coming out in 2015... So you will see some design cues that will look severely overstated for the first impression shock value of a possible future car.

I agree, but like always with concepts, the radical elements will be softened by the time the fob reaches your hand, and it looks to have some real potential. Subjective, of course.

Yes, what was shown at Geneva, but many other cars look NOTHING like tons of "concepts" that have been shown. Way too early to judge. It does look rather finished, though. The roof line is what kills it for me. I'm hoping they make it look more R8 and less Scion TC.

that looks like a Audi R8 in the front.
Why do most of the Hyundai/kia cars look like they're clones of other cars?

Because they are doing exactly what Toyota did using Lexus in the late 80's/early 90's to combat the Germans. Identical business model and plan.

This is a 1992 Lexus.

Hmmm...

and yep! It worked, many people say the name "Lexus" and have the connotation of upper-class, quality, refinement, etc. which they have when they say "Mercedes"--that they would never have associated with Toyota, had they not branched out, re-branded a division, and improved upon the German production model while copying the features and then improving where possible and selling for a lower price. Toyota muscled its way into the luxury car market and did a darn fine job of it. What you are seeing is Kia and Hyundai doing the exact same thing, 2 decades later. It's working.

As with most things, I have found, knowing the past is a strong step toward mastering the future.

It's called the GT-R, and the 300ZX TT has more in common with the GT-R than with the 370Z, imo. Namely, the weight, all-wheel action (steering instead of drive, but still, it was a concept involving handling I guess.) Bloated price-tag that priced it away from most buyers (but was in-line with performance).
