Lug 10-19-2012 01:09 AM

over 3300 lbs @ 200 hp? Physics say no way Jose'.

370Z Purist 10-19-2012 01:34 AM

Correction, physics say SLOW.

shadoquad 10-19-2012 08:23 AM

It's competing with the base BMW 328i.

It's not "fast".

There will be an ATS-V

370zproject 10-19-2012 11:10 AM

ok maybe it was the V model XD

nuTinmuch 10-19-2012 11:23 AM

The ATS is actually really, really nice. It's not a sports car though.

The V will probably be a monster.

There is no ATS-V yet. I have looked at the ATS for a friend and it was a nice car. You can get the RWD 2 liter turbo with 6 speed and magnetic ride along with navigation for about 46k. It's about 3500 pounds so it's not slow, but not fast either. It's a sports sedan not a sports car. For tht same price you can find a used CTS V now. Most of them hardly driven by rich old farts or ladies that putted around in them.

Cadillac's are way overpriced. Would rather have the German equivalent of anything they offer.

Cadillac sedans seem to demand the same prices as BMW or Mercedes. It'd be hard to justify buying American over German, for sure. I've thought it could be cool to buy a used (2004+) CTS-V sedan for a fun daily driver where nobody knows the kind of performance the car is capable of...

On a side note ***

My Mom has test-driven a 3-series and a C-class 4-door. I'd like her to try an ATS, too. I'm curious to see how close the ATS can compete w/ the 328i and C300 sedans . ? . ? . ? .

We test-drove the ATS 3.6 allwheeldrive yesterday:

It had a smoother ride than the 328i, but much less refined than the C300's. The engine was rated @ 321 hp, but the car felt 'weighed down' by the all wheel drive system- my Mom's 290 hp Maxima feels faster (VQ35DE). Very nice interior w/ a futuristic look, but the seats were too hard & the side bolsters didn't hug me ( designed for a larger/fat person ?)
The car did have great balance in tight corners w/ good grip. Good neutral handling w/ little understeer.
The car was an Automatic tranny: decently smooth shifts, but a little slow.

***Overall, much less refined than the Mercedes C-class in all aspects, but nice handling balance that could be compared to a 3-series.

Sweet car! Finally a caddy I could live with!

370zproject,

The ATS definitely competes w/ other small sports sedans rather than sports cars ( 370z/ FR-S/ Genesis).

It's quite impressive that GM builds a car like this, now. Both the drive-train (engine + transmission) and ride quality is lacking in refinement, but would be fun to drive because of its handling and good looks (inside & out). . .
