wanting something cheaper but faster
So I still owe about 27k on my 09 Nismo with 17k miles.... (paid 34k +tax when I bought it a year ago with 4k miles on it, I think I paid too much in hindsight lol)
I was hoping that I could sell it for 25k-27k and buy something a bit cheaper (but faster!!!) But alas it looks like this is easier said than done. Looks like my options are pretty limited. So far all I can think of is a modded Evo 8 or Evo 9, a turbocharged S2000 or a 2001-2003 M5. I'm thinking I should probably just keep the Z. What to do? |
financially, you are better off just keeping it. Maybe refinance it?

TT Supra with 120k is stil 20-30 grand.
I think you are too deep into the Nismo now. You will lose too much money if you go cheaper. And you will regret selling the car. Just make a couple modifications to give you the numbers you want. |

You did your own headlights? WTF? Wasn't that risky? Let's do mine? Ill pay.
Also, where is Xact dyno? And what was the end result before and after mods. Havent seen you down at Pavillions. They have had all the Z's sectioned in their own area now with GT-R's and other 300zx.. You should stop by again sometime! |

Back on topic.. If you just want cheap power, there is the older gen Camaro/Firebird option. Also GTO can be had for fairly cheap now. And of course you can go with the Mustang.. I'd stick with the Z for now though

My friend just got a 05 vette for 23.5 with 60k miles and on a chevy thats a lot i think. I'm not an American made guy so I would keep z. I want a new m3 but can't afford it because I'm in college. The z is great though! Rare around Clemson area too.
If you want cheaper get a 2011 5.0 I guess. Good luck |
Other things to consider. Are you paying cash out right for your next car or looking to finance? If you looking to finance you can't really go too old on a car otherwise you will have trouble with a bank cutting you a loan. Not to mention used cars tend to have high interest rates. I mean cars to consider would be a used C6 Vette. You can find 08's and 09's for around 30k, sometimes less. You can even find 05-06's in the mid 20's, but again financing a car this old will be more difficult. Not to mention you are talking about a car that may or may not have been taken car of.
I think a cheaper car that is faster and yet still easy to find and finance would be a mustang GT. There are 2011's that are now slightly used hitting the dealers, financing a 2011 won't be that hard to do, and it's a faster car for sure. Now if your paying cash out right for a car then you have far more options PS. Yes, you paid too much for your car which is why you still owe so much on it. This will make it difficult to get out from under it |

After coming from a modified charger r/t. To the Z. I can say this..
There are only a few cars out on the road that i actually look out for. Its the STI, Mustang and the EVO. The only reason is that the owners of those cars happen to be younger guys that know what they are doing. Not only that, but they usually want to pull by me and try and race. Im not a racer & this forum doesn't condone street racing. All i have to say is that-- they can be very fast. I found a used EVO 8 for 15k here in Scottsdale. 80k on it. Thats a decent deal! 385whp... How fast do you want to be? The nismo is considered one of the fastest cars on the road. |

Sell the nismo, buy a base c5 vette manual, will be as fast or faster . One can be had with decent miles for ~20k
or even a c5 z06 in mid 20's |

I see civics, trucks, camrys, benz, 3 series, and a ton of new hyundai sonatas. I dont see a ton of 370z's! Thats my opinion though |

INB4 THESE CARS ARE UGLY
13-20k: MazdaSpeed 3 (Girly I know) Caliber SRT-4 (I've owned one it was a blast and I miss it dearly) 300zx TT (You say it's too old but God help me if it looks it) M3 (Yawn but whatever it's the IN thing to like) 8-13k: Neon SRT-4 ANY GSX (They are amazing cars, I regret selling my 1st Gen GSX from the day I did it.) |

Anyways, its a v8 and drops to a 4 cyl on the highway. I used to get 26 mpg on the hwy. I always loved that. 16/18 city. I bought mine with 10k on it for 23k. It was an '08. If you could find one in that 15-20k range. It will last awhile. Put a Predator Chip on it. (The ones cops use on the v6's)...VROOOM. |
