300ZX… What to do with it?
300ZX… What to do with it?
I have a 1990 300ZX 2+2 that I need to sell, but the State of California won’t let me do it! They won’t even let me give it away! It must pass SMOG first. The car, in its current condition, will not pass SMOG. What should I do? Valve seals leaking on exhaust manifold causing smoke and the instant FAIL Has a High Idle also. Option 1. Pay “up the rear” to get it fixed, then sell it for a possible/probable loss. Option 2. Sell it out of State, how do I do this? Is it possible? Option 3. Sell it to a auto Wrecker/Dismantler for pennies… at least I won’t have to pay insurance on it. Option 4. Any other options available to me? |

Any engine and chassis shots?
Looks to be in great shape body wise? I would pay someone to pass it with the understanding that it will be sold...I'm sure a local Z club knows someone! keep searching/connecting

You mean valve cover gaskets leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold? If the valve seals were leaking oil gets into the combustion chamber, not the exhaust manifold. If its just valve cover gaskets that should be a cheap repair to do. If its valve seals, that's an expensive fix.

oh, could a bad EGR cause valve cover gaskets to fail after a while? Last edited by icormba; 09-13-2012 at 11:25 PM. |

Drive down to Compton, park it and leave the car running and just leave.

Thought about that... Compton is too far, Richmond/Oakland is closer... I don't think I'd make it out of there alive though. A couple cop buddies of mine didn't think they would make it home after driving through the area!

What are the specs on the car? Mileage, condition, mods, asking price? Got any more pics?
