Not highly at all, just a bolt on turbo kit, and running faster then any 370 for a car only released a few months ago.

The Subaru EJ engine is a series of automotive engines manufactured by Subaru and introduced in 1989, intended to succeed the previous Subaru EA engine. The EJ series is the mainstay of Subaru's engine line, with all engines of this series being 16-valve flat-4 horizontal, with configurations available for single-, or double-overhead camshaft arrangements (SOHC or DOHC). Naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions are available, ranging from 96 to 320 horsepower. These engines are commonly used in light aircraft, kit cars and engine swaps into air-cooled Volkswagens, but it's also popular as a swap into the wasserboxer engined Volkswagen Type 2. Primary engineering on the EJ series was done by Masayuki Kodama, Takemasa Yamada and Shuji Sawafuji of Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru's parent company.
Please explain to me why you think this? Here's link to a little reading material: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_EJ_engine Last edited by Compdoc777; 09-08-2012 at 03:30 PM. |

I also tuned "SharpByCoop" car ![]() -John Quote:
We're able to run high boost with this setup because of the e85. Car is setup in the same type of configuration that I think be OK for a customer - as long as they had the e85. Pumpgas at this power level would require a meth kit of some sort. I have another shop with a very similar configure doing 20-30min track sessions at the same power level with out problem. When EcuTek finally releases their 370z software with their advanced RaceRom features I'm sure you'll start seeing your z's going faster down the track. this.
I mean, that's properly quick, very fast indeed. But it's also strapping on a turbo to an NA motor. That ain't cheap. Sure, a Z probably won't hold up mod-for-mod with it. That's impressive, but there are plenty of people who won't throw away a huge amount on a turbo and toss their warranty out the window. And as someone else mentioned, Let's see about reliability. It's exciting news, though, because there is supposed to be an STI/TRD version of the twins in the works. I doubt that they'll be running 400hp, but you never know. And for those who are willing to blow huge money and their warranty to go FI, this is a budget supercar. |
