2010 Z Sport to 2013 Mustang GT

Decided that it's time for something new so I am trading in my 2010 370Z Sport and buying a 2013 Mustang GT with the Track Pack, 6spd manual and Recaros. Ordered it today and should have it in 5-6 weeks. I will have some items for sale soon too including:

- Custom Front Crash Beam, replaces stock beam to allow for larger filters and velocity stacks on. Will sell for $150 plus actual shipping.

- Stillen Gen 3's, custom welded one-piece tubes with heat shield foil barrier applied. Comes with two velocity stacks and appropriate filters (to be used with the above crash beam). Likely to sell these for $320 + stock intakes exchange.

- One pair of stock catalytic converters. Likely to sell for $80+shipping.

Nice choice. Enjoy the American muscle !

I just drove one of those yesterday. They're nice.

I like my Zed better, but I can't blame you for the switch. :)

I test drove a 13 Mustang GT two weeks ago. Also a track pack, 6 speed car with 373 rear. WOW! Tremendous HP and torque. Love the sound of the V8. We couldn't reach agreement on my trade so the deal didn't happen. Enjoy your car.

Nice, I am actually in the market and cant decide if I want a powerful v8 (isnt too great on gas), or good v6 (better mpg than mustang). Of course if I was to get a Mustang it'd have to be in only one color...

Deep Impact Blue!

Mmm dat torque will be nice... Congrats

Mustangs do nothing for me though, hate their owners. All they do is rev their engines and then go back home when they get smoked by my cousins Z06. I would get a BOSS 302 though, Shelby expensive!

Thx all, can't wait!

Keep it stock , coyote engines are failing left and right

lemon-fresh 09-04-2012 07:50 PM

yea, kind of odd. They are telling dealers to void warranties if any modifications are found. Apparently the engine is maxed out, could just be PR BS.

Odd that ford would sell a tune that was unsafe with a warranty, but mine will stay stock except for maybe an x pipe with stock cats and mufflers

This is the first I'm hearing this.

This is from a 45 year old veteran Tech who works mainly with LS motors and muscle cars.

"As for the motor, it is absolute ****. The pistons and rods are CHEAP CAST JUNK. I'm amazed that ford would build an engine with such inferior parts. If you buy one of the cars, DO NOT attempt to install blowers, turbo's, or nitrous without first rebuilding the motor with quality internals. You will inevitably have a catastrophic failure in short order. We took the stock pistons and rods to our local machine shop/engine builder and he started laughing histerically when he examined them. I also contacted a friend a the local ford dealer, and he told me they had seen several failures of the pistons already. The problem is the castings, they are extremely poor quality. The piston that failed in our motor shows zero signs of trauma on the surface, but a large section between the upper and lower rings simply cracked and fell apart, taking the rings with it. You can see looking at it closely that there are small air bubbles in the aluminum. Anyway, i'm not ford bashing here, between myself and my brothers, we've owned 6 different stangs in the past 15 years, and I was hoping for good things from the new models. Not gonna happen though. My advice would be to save your money for the Boss, or gt500 versions with forged internals, as the standard 5.0 is a turd. Oh and don't mod a car thats not paid off. Our customer is not a happy man as he still owe's 30k on a car with bad pistons and NO warranty. I'll get some detailed pics of the pistons up on tues so you can see what i'm talking about."

The air bubbles are porosity that is present in all castings, there is a spec for the max allowed. This level is then validated to peak cylinder pressure over an engine durability cycle. With advancement in technology companies are engineerining the "excess" safety factor out of the designs. It's not junk, it's actually more optimized than you believe. Your problem is that they did not engineer in a huge safety factor so you can mod it, poorly calibrate, and still expect it to live.

Although a cracked land is a telltale sign of abuse. The 5.0s with a supercharger kit still can get warranties(roush).

'10Anamoly 09-04-2012 09:32 PM

It will stay stock either way, 420hp is enough for my needs. A muffler set may go on but nothing else.

First time I'm hearing that too, and I'm a regular at SVTP. Maybe I need to check out a more technical forum.

Also the same thing could be said about Z06, owners are douchebags, all they do is rev their motors and get smoked by GTR's.
I don't know how its possible but I see more Corvette fails than Mustang fails. The best being a c6z owner attempting to do a burn out but instead frys the clutch.

Now dont get me wrong, I would take a c6z over a GTR any day... :stirthepot:
BUT I would take a '13 GT500 over a c6z. All my pref of course! :p
